If you enjoy WW2 historical novels that touch on the women of the SOE this is a page turner. I also recommend Code Name Helene.

I was charmed by the war bride characters. All from different backgrounds, they came together to support each other during WWII. The reader did convincing voices and accents. There was one improbable element at the end of the story that just about ruined it for me. I‘ll pretend it didn‘t happen and give 3⭐️s.

Finished this while sitting on a Lake Michigan beach. A story of 5 women from different walks of life living in the same village in England during WWII. Their lives are different but they become friends. Each woman is unique and adds her special element to the whole story. I didn‘t love the narrator, but I liked this book. The story telling of the writer is really good.

This is an amazing book. I‘ve read it at least three times and always love how it ends. A little justice and a lot of love.

Quirkybookworm I believe it's one of the best war stories. Better than Nightingale. 6y

Cathythoughts What a great idea !! 7y
Cinfhen The store was beautifully displayed BUT no books are priced....you need to use your Amazon Prime app to scan prices...annoying & gimmicky @MyNamesParadise @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @SilversReviews @Cathythoughts @MrBook the concept is the bookstore is an extension of the online experience, so they also don't accept cash! 7y
SilversReviews Does sound like a bit of a gimmick. We have no store in Pittsburgh yet. Where is this store? 7y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Cinfhen that would be annoying!!! 7y
Cinfhen I visited the store in NJ @SilversReviews and my other gripe....everything was full retail unless you were a Prime member...there was no clearance section 😩 7y
SilversReviews My son lives in Hoboken. :) Fun but not fun about the Prime and no clearance. 7y
ValerieAndBooks Maybe after a while they'll have a clearance section-- the storefront may be too new to have anything they feel they need to move out the door! 7y
Cinfhen That could be @ValerieAndBooks I can't deny it was a beautiful store!😊Nicely displayed and stocked‼️ 7y
MrBook Huh. Interesting. 7y
LauraBeth I don't know why, but the Amazon brick and mortar bookstore fascinates me 😀 (edited) 7y

My Favorite Monday of the Month! A good, but not great, addition to the WWII canon of historical fiction.

Being a fan of historical fiction, I really enjoyed this story. I would have liked it to be longer so I could learn more about the five female characters. Set in the 1930s and 1940s, War Brides follows five women from very different situations as their lives come together during wartime Europe.

Absolutely loved this book! Totally intrigued by the characters right from the start. Loved how each chapter told a story from different characters point of view & how they all came together. Highly recommend this book for anyone who loves a good historical fiction! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars ✨
