Book 17

The Plum Tree is a WWII novel focused on the experience of Christine, a young German woman who loves a Jewish man. Experiencing the war from the perspective of a German victim was unique. It was slow t0 get going, picked up about halfway, and felt rushed at the end. 3.5 stars

Beautiful. Such an emotional read, I had to put it down and walk away twice. This is the 2nd book I've read by Wiseman and it didn't disappoint. Very well written account of the horrors and heartache of the war in Germany. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Tried thriftbooks.com for the first time and learned the hard way that "very good condition" might be a former library book with labels and all, and "acceptable" looks like this. Basically they call it acceptable if you can still read it! Any other experiences?

ReadingEnvy But I am just using it to buy some of my book club's picks for the year... So I wasn't necessarily planning to keep them. However the book sale I volunteer for would have recycled this due to obvious water damage. Not sold it. 8y
Penny_LiteraryHoarders 😧 not cool! 😣 8y
rubyslippersreads I can live with ex-library, but not water damage. Thanks for the warning! 8y

TNbooklover66 I ordered one from them once and it smelled so bad of musty mold that I didn't even bring it in the house! 8y
WordWaller Wow, that's bad. That's really bad. You can't even sell water damaged books for a dollar 8y
Godmotherx5 @ReadingEnvy How awful. I'm so sorry that happened to you. 8y
