This is another story that shows the journey of piggy and gerald. In this story, piggy is convinced that she is a frog and gerald has to convince her that she is not a frog. They go through an adventure to try and get piggy to realize that she is not a frog but a pig.

I think series books are important to have in the classroom and encourage reading. Kids fall in love with these characters and want to read more and more books about them.

“I'm a Frog! (An Elephant and Piggie Book)“ by Mo Willems, 2007. Picture Book. I love the Piggie and Gerald books and think they're a great series. This is very similar to other books from this series through the usage of large text, the characters jumping all over the page, and the exciting tone.

Our last minute book character day costume because I completely forgot we signed the paper saying she'd dress up for it with her selection of Gerald. Thank gawd for construction paper, safety pins, and hot glue. 😅 She likes it and that's what matters. Thankfully. Ha!

LibrarianRyan It‘s cute! 5y
madamereadsalot1 @LibrarianRyan thanks! I keep laughing at the ears! We could only find a cat ear headband to glue them too, and my dumbass didn't think about how high up that would make em! 😆 She's perpetually surprised Gerald! 😆 5y

1. Last week I was shopping online for a book related garden ornament and found this. I‘m still thinking on it.
2. 81F, 62F
3. A hard boiled egg and toast.
4. Nope. Nope. You can‘t make me do either.
5. An Arnold Palmer. Half iced tea/half lemonade.

monalyisha Omg I didn‘t even see the open book at first & was trying to think of how it could be literary (“Is it inspired by Tuck Everlasting, maybe?” 😅) 6y

This modern fantasy (F) would be awesome for a choral reading (CR). The book is basically dialog between an elephant and a pig. I think kids would have a lot of fun reading this book with a partner. One would be the pig and one would be the elephant.
UDL: This principle would work when students would be engaged to choral reading 7.3- Minimize threats and distractions
EL: 2- Promote cooperation

This website gives very useful information on choral reading and other reading strategies. It explains why reading strategies are important in the classroom and helps give ideas for how to use each strategy.

Jeffersleighann This would be a good readers theatre as well! I could see students really enjoying it! 7y
Noelle5 This sounds so cute - identity crisis! This is like my little dog (he thinks he is a cat- I don‘t think I have ever heard him bark) this sounds like a silly book to read to your students to lift the mood of the classroom or on a fun Friday! 7y

I'm biased. I love Elephant & Piggie! They're just so cute and I giggle more then I probably should for something that has at most five words a page.

(Pretend, that's what grown-up people do.)

HippieChickHomeschool I loved Elephant and Piggie so much! I teared up when I read the last book. 7y
Texreader I ❤️ them too. Some of my son's first books and he would memorize them, then recite them all around the house. ❤️❤️❤️ 7y

night_shift @Texreader oh my gosh that sounds so cute! My daughter thinks they're funny, but I didn't know about them until she was little enough to do that sort of thing. 7y
night_shift @HippieChickHomeschool 😱 I didn't realize they were done! We got a new one we hadn't had before at work and I thought it was a new one. 😞 That sucks. 7y
mrp27 I'm a huge fan of Gerald and Piggie. (edited) 7y
