ish was written by Peter. H Reynolds. I absolutely love this story. Ramon, the main character gets discouraged by his drawings when his brother makes fun of them. However, once Ramon sees how is little sister values him and his work his mood changes. Each page is completely white and the illustrations are colorful. In addition, I really like the text design.

Ish is a fiction book by Peter H. Reynolds is a book about a boy who learns to think “ish-ly“ instead of getting it right. After his older brother makes fun of his drawing, Ramon wants to quit. However, his little sister loves his drawings and gives him a new outlook on life. Ish was published in 2004 and it won a Notable Children's Videos Award in 2006.

Another lovely picture book about the joy of making art, and the idea that someone might just appreciate it, even if it‘s not ‘perfect‘, more -‘ish‘!

The story felt a little more forced than The Dot, but no matter - these books are great!

This RF picture book by Peter H. Reynolds tells about a boy named Ramon who loves to draw until his older brother makes fun of his artworks. Ramon is hurt and hindered by what his brother said to him, leading to believe that his drawings don‘t look right. Positively, his little sister notices and admires his work in that they are unique. She describes that they might not look like real houses or boats, but they are “house-ish” and “boat-ish.”

Great book about making art! let‘s kids know it doesn‘t have to be perfect to be beautiful.

This sweet picture book is about a little boy who tries to make art but thinks he is failing. His sister has been saving and hanging his art in her bedroom and when he realizes that it doesn‘t have to be perfect to be beautiful he falls in love with making art again. This story is sweet and has fun simple colorful illustrations!

My favorite part is the illustrations!

This is a very cute motivational story to read to children. Children can learn from this book that you only need one person to believe in you and the opportunities are endless. It is a very thoughtful story. Would definitely read this to my classroom.

Any ish can be turned into a masterpiece if you keep at it. Channel your creativity and just let it flow! Don't let anyone or anything stop you!

“And Ramon lived ishfully ever after” how cute!!!

I enjoyed reading this book. The illustrations were simple, but very pleasing to look at. The story itself was very interesting and definitely good for kids. I liked how the word “ish” was used interchangeably throughout the book

I loved the font styles and watercolor used in this book, it was simple and beautiful. Very easy to relate to and understand.

the theme of this story was very strong and important for children to learn! Ramon became frustrated with his artwork when his brother laughed at it, but the way his sister admired it encouraged him to keep creating it. This shows children not to limit themselves due to one person‘s opinion.

This would be a great book to read to students when teaching that it‘s okay to not be the best; all that matters is that you are doing what you love in the way that you love it.

This book has a great theme to it. I love how the title on the cover of the book is written in the same “ish” way that is conveyed in the story.

This book does a good job showing composition from one page to the next and making your eyes move.

This book is about a brother drawing and crumpling up his pictures and his sister likes his drawings and puts them up all over her room walls. She calls them saw-ish! This inspired him to draw more pictures that were isn‘t.

“He began to draw what he felt - loose lines. Quickly springing out. Without worry.”

This would be a great book to read to children before an art project.

AMAZING. I was fascinated by this book and thought it was so clever and whimsical, yet thoughtful and profound. I was intrigued to read that the art was done in watercolor, ink, and tea! Love this book & cant wait to read it to my kids.

“Making an ish drawing felt wonderful”
Ramon finally pursued his passion and didn‘t worry about what others thought because with his emotions and dedication he could achieve anything!

This particular part in the story really pieced everything together and shows true character development! Ramon has given up until he realized his work was also important to others who loved him. This gave his work meaning and also gave him meaning to keep pursuing his work as an artist! It really opens your eyes to the idea that someone can always be looking up to you and watching, so never give up!

Published in 2004. Ish being in the picture book genre, I was drawn to the style of the illustrations, messy. This perfectly sums up the book “Ish” because it was all a work in progress, messy but art! It‘s what made Ramon an artist! The pictures are essential for this story because without them we couldn‘t understand character emotions, effort in his art. and what made his art so special! These pictures really made the text have deeper meaning!

I read this to my kinder kids today since a lot of them are perfectionists when it comes to drawing. Ish is an awesome book and I love hearing them add ish onto everything they draw! (This is Apple-ish, this is dinosaur-ish 😂) And no more crying about imperfect illustrations!! #teachersoflitsy
