Lovely children‘s book.
I love the message as it‘s all about building relationships and supporting one another and the ways we can do that. However, I did not like the illustrations at all. Not my style I guess. #bbrc #atoz:y
Written as a message of reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians, this brief, simple story promotes kindness and respect.

“You hold me up/ I hold you up/ We hold each other up.”
We can care for each other by giving our attention and time, and by showing we care with kindness and respect. This short story is a lovely reminder of why relationships matter.

My second book (both today and total) by Monique Gray Smith. The story is lovely and sweet and full of community and love. Never read anything illustrated by Danielle Daniel, but the illustrations here are very sweet. Recommended once again to adults in need of sweet comfort and kids in need of any simple picture book.
An #Indigenous #picturebook with a teaching message for the very young—age 3 and under—and their caregivers. It‘s never too early to learn about building relationships and fostering empathy. Straightforward, with portrayals of Indigenous people of all ages. “You hold me up when you play with me, when you laugh with me, when you sing with me. You hold me up. I hold you up. We hold each other up.”
From author‘s note: “With this book, we are embarking on a journey of healing and reconciliation. I wrote it to remind us of our common humanity and the importance of holding each other up with respect and dignity. I hope it is a foundational book for our littlest citizens.”

Read with my friend's daughter, Ava (4 1/2).
Ava's review: I thought it was too short, but I liked the pictures.
I agree with her. Cute story about loving each other, but really short.
