Magic for Marigold | L.M. Montgomery
post image

With the holiday chaos, I've neglected to post a #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead schedule for January and beyond...but here it is now!

We'll start with an #LMMReread of Magic for Marigold, then it's on to #LMMAdjacent reads: Elizabeth Gaskell's biography of Charlotte Bronte, and Tish Plays the Game. Somewhere in there we can decide whether we want to read/re-read Jane Eyre together. We'll jump back into the #LMMJournals sometime in March or April!

BarbaraJean Please let me know if you'd like to be tagged for any or all of the above. All are welcome! 5h

Where's My Cow? | Terry Pratchett, Melvyn Grant

Pickpick

A story of finding a cow that becomes a story of finding Sam Vimes while we meet many people of Ankh Morpork.

This was absolutely charming! I laughed out loud at several places, and I just adored when Lady Sybil shows up. This whole thing shows off the amazing growth we‘ve been seeing in Vimes over the last few books, and I adored this.🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

julesG What you said! 🦧Ook! Also there's a Patrick Rothfuss Youtube video of him reading the book to his children. Well worth watching. 1d
willaful @julesG Oh, I haven't been able to get a library copy, I'll have to look for that. 1d

Okay, fellow #FictionalTraveler friends, where is everyone headed for our January #AnimalKingdom prompt? I‘m headed to the lovely world of The Wind in the Willows. Believe it or not, I‘ve never read it!

All are welcome to join us. I‘m tagging everyone on my 2026 list. If anyone would like to be added or deleted, please comment below.

Enchanted_Bibliophile I'm off to Balkan Peninsula 1d
TheAromaofBooks I've always collected the “Famous Horse Stories“ published by Grosset & Dunlap back in the 1950s, so I think I am going to pull one of those!! 21h
DebinHawaii I am hoping my library hold comes in for this one. I love this series! 11h

#Read2025 #SeriesLove2025

Finished Sunday for #BobWhiteBuddies I kinda sorta remember this one from my childhood. A bikeathon through the preserve to raise money for the high school art program that stops at Mrs. Vanderpoel‘s for her cookies & Mr. Maypenny‘s for hunter‘s stew? Sign me up! Trixie & the gang (with Di & Dan along for most of it) have to also solve a potential counterfeit ring & figure out who wants to stop the fundraiser. I liked ⬇️

DebinHawaii … the relationship between Mart & Trixie in this one. He had her back. (edited) 2d
DieAReader ♥️♥️♥️ 2d
TheAromaofBooks I made a note about Mart and Trixie in this one, too! I really loved the way he was there for her when she needed him. 2d

This is always so hard…..my favourites this year for lots of different reasons.

squirrelbrain I think we have 7 the same, and a few more that almost made my list. 3d
TrishB @squirrelbrain considering the amount of books we both read- that‘s about 1/3 of the best! They must be brilliant. You probably recommended them to me 😁 3d
squirrelbrain I can certainly see a few that I recommended - or forced into your hands in a bookshop! 😜 3d

staci.reads Lots of good additions to my tbr! Thanks for posting! 2d
CarolynM Ordinary Saints made my best of list too. And I can definitely thank you for that recommendation 😊 Screenshotted, obviously. (edited) 2d
Reggie Omg I‘ve only read one of what you posted Lolol I have screenshot for the future. And I‘m sure I‘ve stacked from your posts. Thanks! 2d
BarbaraBB Such a great list! We share some favorites and I already have some of these on my my to read shelves thanks to your reviews: cloudless, ordinary saints and the imagined life. I will get a copy of The Artist and A Room Above a Shop too - since you and Helen have them both listed! 2d
Rissreadswithcats I have not read any of these! I do have 2 on my physical TBR though. Happy 2026! 1d

#CHILDRENSCLASSICREAD2026 JANUARY

I know, I know.. Easter in January.
Cheerful is a mouse who longs to live in the country described in a song his mother sings.
I think longing for peace and where you feel at home is universal -no matter your religion or faith or ethos.

Year SEVEN 👏🏻🩵📘💙ALL WELCOME

#Naturalitsy #HyggeHourReadathon

My #HyggeHour tonight will be spent with Trixie & the Bob-Whites for #BobWhiteBuddies

On the couch, drinking a Peppermint Bark Hint Water & noshing on some of my #Jolabokaflod chocolates from @JamieArc (thanks again!)

Mood is sad that 6 days of PTO flew by & tomorrow is Monday but relieved that it‘s another short week with 2 days work, 2 off, 1 day work, then the weekend.

TheBookHippie Here‘s to a good week! 4d

I Am Wind: An Autobiography | Rachel Poliquin

Pickpick

I‘ll be honest. I didn‘t realize winds were predictable/patterned/moved in certain ways. This book is fascinating and I have a much better understanding of our atmosphere and how wind shapes (literally) our planet. I also had to do some side research dives, which is always a good sign for me! With a blizzard predicted for this evening, this was a good day to read this one!
