The_Penniless_Author Aw man, I'm bummed to hear that John M Ford book wasn't any good. I read The Dragon Waiting (which is his cult classic) and loved it, and was intrigued to learn about Ford and the fact that he wrote one novel in seemingly every genre there is. I was hoping the others would be just as good as Dragon, but I guess they can't all be hits! 2d

tournevis @The_Penniless_Author How Much for Just the Planet? is a strange book and not at all written like your average tie-in. It's basically a musical and a farce, i.e. a literary experiment. If that's not your cup of tea, you won't like it. It is a favourite among SFF authors, but is divisive among Trekkers. 2d

RamsFan1963 @The_Penniless_Author @tournevis I got the feeling the author was going for some kind of Gilbert & Sullivan comedy but it comes off as an episode of Three's Company dressed up in Star Trek uniforms. A pie fight with the Klingons? So painful to read. I have another ST novel by Ford, The Final Reflection, that seems much more serious. 1d

My nephews, 2 & 4, are getting (mostly) bug books. If I can‘t fully conquer my own fear, I can at least inoculate the next generation. 😅

Books are being paired with some Lakeshore Learning toys, including an updated version of one of those old school viewmasters! They can click between 35 different photos of insects and spiders. 🕷️🐛🦋

Dinosaur Vs. Santa | Bob Shea

Currently devouring Bob Shea's picture books, amd went for the seasonally appropriate next. Dinosaur is definitely meant for very young readers given the simplicity of the narrative, and Shea's colourful palette is somewhat restricted by sticking primarily to a red and green motif, but I love the switch between snarly face and truly adorable expressions, and there's something inspiring in the 'roar about it but get shit done' tackling of to-dos.

Okay friends, I've created another Canva document, this one with bonus #ISpyBingo boards!! These boards each have a theme and are 4x4. These are “optional“ boards (as opposed to the monthly boards, which of course are REQUIRED OR ELSE 😂) I will post the link, and I'm also going to go ahead and upload each board onto Litsy next, but I am not going to tag everyone on every board - you can just look and see them at your leisure. I added a text box inside each grid square, which is a little tedious, but after that I just copy the page and change the background/text but don't have to worry about recreating all those text boxes!! 1mo

TheAromaofBooks @thebacklistbook - I love to do things in a confusing manner so this year I've been starting a new board each month, but giving myself a full year to finish it. That way I don't have a million prompts that get checked off in January and then not as many the rest of the year. So I set the SG challenge up to last two years because my December 2025 board is (for me personally) from December 1, 2025 through November 30, 2026 😂 1mo
