My 8 Least Favorite Books of 2025:

1. Sudden Traveler - Sarah Hall
2. Where The Axe Is Buried - Roy Nayler
3. Word-Bringer - Edward Llewellyn
4. The Fall of Partha - Steve Stephenson
5. Blindsight - Peter Watts
6. Counterweight - Djuna
7. Muddle Earth - John Brunner
8. Star Trek: How Much For Just The Planet? -
John M. Ford

The_Penniless_Author Aw man, I'm bummed to hear that John M Ford book wasn't any good. I read The Dragon Waiting (which is his cult classic) and loved it, and was intrigued to learn about Ford and the fact that he wrote one novel in seemingly every genre there is. I was hoping the others would be just as good as Dragon, but I guess they can't all be hits! 2d
tournevis @The_Penniless_Author How Much for Just the Planet? is a strange book and not at all written like your average tie-in. It's basically a musical and a farce, i.e. a literary experiment. If that's not your cup of tea, you won't like it. It is a favourite among SFF authors, but is divisive among Trekkers. 2d
merelybookish Nice tagged book! 😆 2d

RamsFan1963 @The_Penniless_Author @tournevis I got the feeling the author was going for some kind of Gilbert & Sullivan comedy but it comes off as an episode of Three's Company dressed up in Star Trek uniforms. A pie fight with the Klingons? So painful to read. I have another ST novel by Ford, The Final Reflection, that seems much more serious. 1d
RamsFan1963 @merelybookish I think it's going to be my new go to title when I'm DNFing a book 🤣 1d
SamAnne 😂😂😂 1d
tournevis @RamsFan1963 You describe what Ford (Mike to friends) was going for. It's a farce and a musical and should be taken as such. As ridiculous as the ridiculous TOS episodes were. It's not serious work. 1d
RamsFan1963 @tournevis I have nothing against comedy in Star Trek, Trouble With Tribbles, A Piece of the Action, and Shore Leave are 3 of my favorite episodes of TOS. 1d
tournevis @RamsFan1963 Even unintentional comedy works, Catspaw (edited) 1d
RamsFan1963 @tournevis Don't forget that classic, Spock's Brain. 🤣 1d
tournevis @RamsFan1963 O love Spock's Brain! 1d

I first joined Litsy because I just didn't feel much community on Goodreads or Storybook. Here? Community GALORE! And who knew that we all loved swaps and exchanging bookish gifts? 🤩 Littens, here's to ending this year with love and hope in 2026. 🕯️🌎🕯️

And special thanks to the Littens below for the extra holiday love. 💙🤍🩵

More books for tiny tots!

My nephews, 2 & 4, are getting (mostly) bug books. If I can‘t fully conquer my own fear, I can at least inoculate the next generation. 😅

Books are being paired with some Lakeshore Learning toys, including an updated version of one of those old school viewmasters! They can click between 35 different photos of insects and spiders. 🕷️🐛🦋

Pickpick

Currently devouring Bob Shea's picture books, amd went for the seasonally appropriate next. Dinosaur is definitely meant for very young readers given the simplicity of the narrative, and Shea's colourful palette is somewhat restricted by sticking primarily to a red and green motif, but I love the switch between snarly face and truly adorable expressions, and there's something inspiring in the 'roar about it but get shit done' tackling of to-dos.

Such nostalgia for the time when my height dictated the ornament distribution on the tree. ☺️

AkashaVampie My youngest used to do this. Now he likes to spread it around kinda... I say kinda cuz he tends to clump some ornaments together but all around the tree. Haha 3w
Robotswithpersonality @AkashaVampie That endearing focus! Doing their best. 😁 3w

A wonderfully unique Christmas picture book. Perfect for all ages. The monsters are getting the house and everything ready for Santa Claws. It's a frightfully good time! Illustrations are wicked good and I just love everything about this book.

Okay friends, I've created another Canva document, this one with bonus #ISpyBingo boards!! These boards each have a theme and are 4x4. These are “optional“ boards (as opposed to the monthly boards, which of course are REQUIRED OR ELSE 😂) I will post the link, and I'm also going to go ahead and upload each board onto Litsy next, but I am not going to tag everyone on every board - you can just look and see them at your leisure. I managed to come ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) up with six boards before my creativity ran out, but it's possible that I'll be struck with inspiration and add a few more before the end of the year!! Let me know what you think!!

BarbaraBB Love it Sarah! And I hardly dare ask but will you make an I Spy challenge on Storygraph? I loved adding my books over there 🥰 1mo

rockpools These are such fun! If I read nothing else next year, I‘m determined to read a book with a scarecrow on the front! (Preferably from the adults section of the library - kids would be way too easy). I also appreciate you for making them optional!! Thank you ☺️ (edited) 1mo
ElizaMarie I am excited to see your “mandatory“ boards this coming year! I think I am gonna try to solve them all year long, since I struggle (but love them). These extras will be thrown in throughout the year too! Thanks again! 1mo
OriginalCyn620 Yay! I‘ve been playing around on Canva trying to design ones I had ideas for. I hope they turn out as nice as yours! 1mo
thebacklistbook Although it doesn't seem to match the boards... 1mo
willaful Great boards! 1mo
TheAromaofBooks @BarbaraBB - I am definitely going to get the main monthly prompts on Storygraph, and will try to add the optional boards as optional prompts haha I am slowly getting them added in. I love SG but their challenge set-up is a little clunky 😂 1mo
TheAromaofBooks @thebacklistbook - That is this year (2025) - I will have a fresh SG challenge for 2026!! 😁 1mo
TheAromaofBooks @ElizaMarie - I posted the January 2026 board the other day, which included the link to all the 2026 monthly boards in case you want a preview!! I'm working on getting it on Storygraph as well. 😁 1mo
TheAromaofBooks @OriginalCyn620 - I can't wait to see them!! I found a grid and uploaded it and then just use that inside the graphic. I added a text box inside each grid square, which is a little tedious, but after that I just copy the page and change the background/text but don't have to worry about recreating all those text boxes!! 1mo
OriginalCyn620 @TheAromaofBooks thanks for the tips! 1mo
Lauredhel thanks, what fun! *goes looking for farmer romances* 1mo
BarbaraBB @thebacklistbook Thanks! That‘s the one I‘ve been adding my books to in 2025! Loved that! 1mo
thebacklistbook @TheAromaofBooks the end date was 2026 on it so I wasn't sure. 1mo
ElizaMarie @TheAromaofBooks ooo I missed it! I am gonna go look now :) thanks 1mo
TheAromaofBooks @thebacklistbook - I love to do things in a confusing manner so this year I've been starting a new board each month, but giving myself a full year to finish it. That way I don't have a million prompts that get checked off in January and then not as many the rest of the year. So I set the SG challenge up to last two years because my December 2025 board is (for me personally) from December 1, 2025 through November 30, 2026 😂 1mo
TheAromaofBooks @ElizaMarie - I realized you aren't on the #ISpyBingo tag list - would you like to be added? I try to post the monthly boards about a week before the new month starts. Or anyone can download them all ahead of time from Canva. 😁 1mo
ElizaMarie @TheAromaofBooks Yes please add me - thank you - I thought I was on the tag list (oops) 1mo
julieclair These are SO creative and fun! Thank you, Sarah. You‘re a rock star! ⭐️ 1mo
Lauredhel If anyone's confused like me, I think John Connelly is supposed to be the Irish author John Connolly? It took me a bit of searching 1mo
TheAromaofBooks @lauredhel - That was probably me misinterpreting Lise's handwriting 😂 Sorry about that!! 1mo
Read4life Thank you, Sarah! 💙💙💙 4w
