5/5 stars. Finally a book to pull me out of my reading rut. I‘ve been struggling to finish almost anything lately. When I do, it takes me SO long. But this story grabbed me from the start. If my kids, husband, job, and life in general didn‘t distract me...I would‘ve finished this in one sitting. It‘s beautifully written and such a heartbreaking journey to follow.

I really enjoyed this book. A wonderful story with heartbreaking moments, greatly written characters and a chance of hope at the end. Proceed with caution though as it deals with psychological, verbal and physical abuse.

This one was good. Sad and frustrating, but ultimately hopeful. Can‘t wait to read her second novel!

I did not think I would be so moved by this.

This is a story about a broken boy with a broken mother and a piano. It is a story about self-worth and perfection and 'but I'm not good enough'. It is about family and friends and love and forgiveness and abuse and blood. It is about finding yourself, not becoming someone else. It is about this broken boy and a ray of sunshine, who helps him heal. But ultimately, it is about him saving himself.

Ah this was so amazing 🖤!! It was dark and brutal, then a page later adorable and fluffy. The characters are so well constructed, they're like actual humans 😱 I wanted to adopt Beck and Joey on a regular basis 💔.

This book is honestly so fantastic - so heartbreaking and full of emotion. In some ways it kind of reminded me of Sing, Unburied, Sing which is high praise. I loved it even though it made me cry!
