This book was riddled with grammatical errors. The narrator is meant to be a protector of Savannah but speaks like someone who's visited the city maybe once. The fight scenes were good, and the plot wasn't bad. I could have done without the cliche vampire romance vibe.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I completely understand, I gave it a like...I could see the potential, but it just didn't grab me the way it should have. 8y

DitrieMarieBowie @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I agree; the potential is definitely there. The action scenes were the main reason I didn't just bail. She does a pretty good fight scene. 8y

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I liked the world building as far as the backstory and powers, once they got to that part...it just took a long time to get there. I'll probably try the second one, just not right away. 8y

Does anybody else get frustrated by poorly edited books? (This is at least the third major grammatical error I've spotted in this book today.)

Chessa I almost had to bail on a favorite series because the author kept giving characters a wide "birth." ARRRGGGHH! 8y

This one was a slow start for me, lots of world building, with new people introduced at each stop in their journey. But by about halfway, it picked up, the characters all started to mesh & the storyline became much more interesting. Glad I pushed through on this one & looking for the next part.

Why is it sometimes that books you should like just seem to drag? I light read turns into a struggle. Is it just that it catches you at the wrong time and place, the wrong frame of mind, something else... Either way, pushing through with this one.
