Beauty's Kingdom
Beauty's Kingdom | A.N. Roquelaure

Years before the erotic novel became a phenomenon, Anne Rice wrote the bestselling Sleeping Beauty trilogy. It is now twenty years since the fabled Sleeping Beauty and her prince, Laurent, left the mysterious kingdom of Queen Eleanor, where they had known voluptuous erotic slavery together. Suddenly the great Queen is reported dead and the survival of the kingdom is in peril. Beauty and Laurent are implored to take the throne and to uphold the ways of complete sensual surrender that have made Eleanor's realm a legend. Beauty agrees, but with one twist: she insists that all erotic servitude be voluntary. She and Laurent strive to rebuild Eleanor's land as a newer and finer paradise of luscious abandonment and never-ending sensual pleasure. Countless eager princes, princesses, lords, ladies and common folk journey to Beauty's new Kingdom where she and her husband awaken their domain, ushering in a new era of desire, longing and sexual ecstasy. Provocative and stirring, Rice's imaginative retelling of the Sleeping Beauty myth will be hailed by her longtime fans and new readers of erotica just discovering the novels.

Bailedbailed

Years ago, I was given the first three books by someone who really enjoyed erotica. Erotica has never been my genre. I can‘t go forward with this book, given the horrific reality of sexual slavery in the world, and jump into this fantasy realm where consent doesn‘t exist and you ‘enjoy it‘. I have my own trauma and I know so many others who have theirs. I‘ve told myself I don‘t have to commit to reading it. Just not for me.

GondorGirl Oh, yeah, no. That sounds like a terrible read. 😨 5mo

I really wanted to like this book. The others in the series were great, but this one felt all over the place. Love scenes were rushed and short. Too many characters to keep track of. The last chapter was ok, but it was a hard read.

lucifare I have yet to read anything under Anne Rice‘s pen names and always wondered if they were any good or if I would compare them too much to her vampire chronicles or Mayfair witches. 3y
lydiadeetz31 The first 3 books were better...this was just ok. 😁 3y

I love books. Of course! Additionally, it‘s the beauty of Vermont and the artists who live here and decorate silos that make me happy. I‘m so thankful that I live four houses away from two of my four grandchildren and that I see them every day.

What to do with a #bookishcouple photo prompt and a length of chain??? Time to dust off that Ann Rice (writing as A.M. Roquelaure) erotic trilogy, I say. Told in Rice's incisive prose, it's dang good writing... but not for the faint of heart. Move over, Christian Grey! #bookseries

The Sleeping Beauty Trilogy was my first foree into BDSM erotica and as such I was REALLY excited when this new one came out and...well, I mean...its alright but there's nothing new or shocking. The best comparison I can make is going to Disneyland as a kid vs as an adult. Its still fun and all but the magic isn't the same and the flaws show through.

This book was way better. Still weird and shocking but at least in this one people are sex slaves by choice and want that life. The first three made me uneasy how they were forced into it and then grew to love it like Stockholm syndrome! Really good end though I have to say.
