I read One Man‘s Wilderness recently for #LMPBC and I really loved Proenneke‘s attitude towards life. The stories of his day to day experiences in a secluded Alaskan cabin would be perfect for a dark January night. (And I am celebrating because we might finally get some snow tomorrow!)

One Man‘s Wilderness: An Alaskan Odyssey is a book based on the journals and photography of Richard Proenneke, who lived alone in the Alaskan wilderness for more than 30 years. ⬇️
This was a great book. I loved the descriptions of the lakes and the wildlife. I was constantly wondering if I could live off the land like Proenneke, and I added seeing, or at least hearing, a wolf in the wild to my bucket list. For now though I will settle for the roars of the mighty Daisy cat.
Then it‘s a wrap … Happy reading, y‘all!

I give this book all the stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Not sure where I picked it up, or if it was a gift, but it‘s now one of my favorite non-fiction books. I even shed a couple of unexpected tears when it ended. Recommended for those who love nature, or who want to start loving it. 💕
#tarottakeover #octoberphotochallenge Richard Proenneke built a cabin in the Alaskan Wilderness and lived there by himself. What a sense of fulfillment he must have felt by being self-sufficient. I admire the discipline and motivation that went into achieving his goals. He seems to have had such a peaceful and balanced life. He partnered with the wilderness to create his own world. #WorldCard 🌎🌎🌎
This is by far the most relaxing book to read. I like how simplistic Proenneke's journaling style was and he describes landscapes amazingly. As more of a blue collar person that likes to read and wants to write Proenneke really inspires me, not to mention my appreciation of his old school building!
