A not-to-be-missed novel of suspense about the secrets hidden in a young couple's new neighborhood.Kat and Doug felt like Aurora Village was the perfect community. Minutes from the city, affluent without pretension, low crime with a friendly vibe--it's everything Kat never had, and that she's determined to provide for her infant daughter. Snagging a nice bungalow in this exclusive enclave was worth all the sacrifice. But everything changes overnight when Kat finds a scrawled note outside their front door. That wasn't very neighborly of you.As increasingly sinister and frighteningly personal notes arrive, each one stabs deeper into the heart of Kat's insecurities, paranoia, and most troubling, her past. When the neighbors who seemed so perfect reveal their open secret, the menace moves beyond mean notes. Someone's raising the stakes. As suspicious as she is of every smiling face and as terrified as she's become of being found out, Kat is still unprepared for the sharp turn that lies just ahead of her on Bayberry Lane.

Trigger warning, this book contains sexual assault.

I enjoyed this book more than I wanted to, honestly. Monago writes defined characters and the plot was quite twisted.

Kat moves to a new and exclusive neighbourhood with her husband and baby; all her neighbours seem delightful, but then the notes start to arrive. With secrets she thought were well hidden, Kat begins to unravel under the menace of an unseen and unknown enemy.

This is the view from my driveway. I live across the street from a park which has a playground and a large grassy area behind it. We have kids and dogs so it's convenient. And pretty.

I enjoyed the book, even though it was a bit strange. If you read the book, let me know what you think of the “spreadsheet” and the AV neighbors. The main character development was great. A second summer read that was entertaining.

I was captivated by the multiple storylines and the colorful characters, and was definitely pulled in to see what would happen next. It was an easy read, well-written, and touched upon many different genres to appeal a variety of audiences. I prefer realistic novels, and though parts were not what I would consider to be realistic, they were written in a way that I was still highly engaged and intrigued. If anything, they made the story better!

The plot twist about halfway through this made it slightly more interesting but I still wasn‘t wowed by this book 😕

Has anyone read this? I think it was a Kindle First choice. I‘m not thrilled so far 😕

mcipher I read a few pages but didn‘t get far into it. I do suck at reading digital books though so it is not totally the book‘s fault. 7y

Halechr @That-Bookish-Hiker honestly, I‘m halfway through and I‘m not sure about it yet-I would probably not finish it, except I need to find out the mystery part of the book or it would drive me crazy. 7y
That-Bookish-Hiker @Halechr that‘s how they get ya! I am the same way. 7y

An enjoyable, easy read.
A few moments were predictable or weird and had me thinking "grrr... as if anyone would do that."
Overall a good book that you can read without having to think too much... but don't expect to feel much for any characters either.

Wait but why? I have so many questions. Additionally why do they live in a tiny house? Why was the swinging necessary to the plot? It got more interesting about 3/4 of the way through. I wouldn‘t say it‘s good but it‘s trashy and I got it for free, so I feel somewhat obligated to at least rate it higher than The Girl on the Train.
