Robin Gibb & his son RJ composed the Titanic Requiem for the 100th anniversary of the sinking. The song “Don‘t Cry Alone” is beautiful and haunting. #TuesdayTunes

The RMS Titanic struck an iceberg at 11:40 pm on April 14, 1912. She sank at 2:20 am on April 15, 1912. Survivor Lawrence Beesley wrote a memoir that I wish was required reading in schools. It includes important lessons that are relevant today. Beesley doesn‘t just look at those directly involved with the tragedy. He looks at society‘s involvement as well. ⬇️

Kerrbearlib I love this quote about a man he met on the Carpathia who recognized his indirect role in the sinking. The man had demanded faster travel for his own convenience and thrown fits when he didn‘t get it. Other travelers had done the same, thinking of their own convenience rather than the safety of others. Their collective selfish and impatience played an indirect role in the Titanic tragedy. 6d

David Warner was in the 1997 James Cameron Titanic. But I prefer him in the 1979 S.O.S. Titanic film where he played Lawrence Beesley.
