Hands down best book I read in February. 🥰
#weeklyforecast
Recently finished: Been on a reading spree these past few weeks; really don‘t know what is in the water, but I‘ve been on a tear since the end of January.
Currently Reading: I can‘t seem to shake the first two books at the moment; think I need to focus on those two until I am finished them; hope to start Homecoming this week
5✨ I‘ll admit it took me a bit to get the sisters and passengers of the Titanic straight, but I knew it would have to be a lot of characters based on what we know would happen by the end. I like that the author did a lot of research to make it a mostly true story. I loved this story! 🥰
Really well researched and interesting to read. There was too much scene-setting of historical markers that weren‘t relevant to Margaret‘s life. I was drawn to the book because I loved the musical The Unsinkable Molly Brown with Debbie Reynolds, and I bought the book at the Titanic Museum in Missouri. She was never even called Molly, so that‘s just a small taste of how many things about her life and personality were incorrect.
Overall I liked this historical fiction from the point of view of a girl who stows away on the Titanic, but there were a few issues for me as a reader. Hazel sneaks onto the ship and then makes herself way too visible, including spending time in the first class areas. She asks specific questions that provide lots of clear information about the flaws/mistakes that led to the catastrophe, and of course it all works out well for her in the end.
Monica is soo ready for a lazy reading day. Thank you so much @staci.reads and @MaleficentBookDragon for hosting this years #jolabokflod (she was sniffing the chocolate too much so the other one is not pictured 😅)
Non fiction - published in 2018. The story of the Titanic and how the magnificent ship met its doom fascinates kids. This short book offers young readers an overview of the conditions and mistakes that led to the notable maritime disaster and the rediscovery of the sunken ship almost a century later.
