A ship counts as a boat right? How about a (wait for it) titanic one? 🤩 I loved this book and taught it to my sophomores. And guess who posted about it? Tag, you're it, @TheBookgeekFrau! Find another book with a boat and tag that person. Pass the fun along!

TheBookgeekFrau I feel like I posted that eons ago. I feel stalked😂😂😂 I'm going to try to keep this going 1mo
rubyslippersreads In the movie, Cora‘s father calls it a boat, and she corrects him: “It‘s a ship, Daddy!” 1mo

Pickpick

I hadn't ever given much thought to the passengers and crew of the Carpathia, the ship that heard Titanic's distress calls, and at much risk to themselves rushed to help. This book is historical fiction, but a lot of work went into the storyline and it contains real people know to surround the story and events, including mistaken identities when there were multiple passengers with the same names, and burials at sea for those rescued but that...

MaggieCarr ... still perished, and so forth. This book will live in my head for a very, very long time. 2mo

I thought this was really clever. Cover was gorgeous. Had a lot of tidbits of life at that time. Meditation on "surviving" the Titanic is very interesting to me considering all the stories of "I could have been there" on 9/11

Robin Gibb & his son RJ composed the Titanic Requiem for the 100th anniversary of the sinking. The song “Don‘t Cry Alone” is beautiful and haunting. #TuesdayTunes

The RMS Titanic struck an iceberg at 11:40 pm on April 14, 1912. She sank at 2:20 am on April 15, 1912. Survivor Lawrence Beesley wrote a memoir that I wish was required reading in schools. It includes important lessons that are relevant today. Beesley doesn‘t just look at those directly involved with the tragedy. He looks at society‘s involvement as well. ⬇️

Kerrbearlib I love this quote about a man he met on the Carpathia who recognized his indirect role in the sinking. The man had demanded faster travel for his own convenience and thrown fits when he didn‘t get it. Other travelers had done the same, thinking of their own convenience rather than the safety of others. Their collective selfish and impatience played an indirect role in the Titanic tragedy. 4mo
