I got the news today that I have skin cancer — I will be fine; the doctor says it‘s highly treatable. But “cancer” is a scary word, even when you know you‘ll be fine, so I‘m lying here in bed, wallowing, eating junk, and reading Edward Lee. I‘m giving myself today for the wallowing; tomorrow, I‘ll just have to go back to my regular self.

KathyWheeler Thank you, everybody. I know I‘ll be fine and I‘m glad it was caught early. It‘s been awhile since I‘ve been to the dermatologist; I had an appointment last year, but I cancelled it because it was the middle of COVID and I was sick. I just randomly decided to call on Monday and made an appointment for Tuesday. Now here I am. (edited) 3y

BookNAround I‘m sorry. Cancer is a scary word for sure. I‘m a melanoma survivor and I still remember the day they called to tell me I had it. Best of luck to you with treatment or surgery or however they plan to get it for you. 3y

KathyWheeler @wanderinglynn Thank you. I was so hoping to get back to my fitness goals, but I think I‘m really going to have to modify them. Which is fine — I was just wanting to get immediately back to a more normal life after my cat, but it looks like it might be a few more weeks before that can happen. 3y

wanderinglynn I know it must be so frustrating, and scary, and sad. A lot has happened to you in a rather short time. I feel for you. I think right now it‘s more important to focus on self-care and mental health. Life happens, we adapt, and try to keep moving forward. 💚 3y

Ate at the fantastic 610 Magnolia last night, my bf is very inspired by this chef so it was nice they got to talk shop for a bit and the food was just fantastic!! If you are in louisville and want to treat yourself, head there-- or just pick up this cookbook! We use it frequently.

8little_paws @audrey oh wow I don't think my bf knows of this memoir, I'll have to find it somewhere!! The dinner was just terrific, from the food and wine pairings to the hospitality of every person there. 6y

Audrey FYI, the memoir comes out later this month. Each chapter is a different location with a few recipes inspired by that area. I have a bunch tabbed to try. Also, his dc restaurant, Succotash, is also fantastic. ESP the succotash. (edited) 6y
