It's National Read A Book Day!! 📚 I wrapped up this book just in time to review it for today's holiday. I give it âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸
The stories are pretty easy to follow and you are not kept in the dark about much so it's nice to be able to follow along with the action which is pretty fast paced. If you're looking for a who-done-it then you'll need to turn elsewhere.
I plan to read more of Lupin now that I've started! On to Miss Marple! #mystery #classy

Finished during the #JubilantJuly #readathon & read for #DiverseCozy

This was a quick read with amusing short stories about a very smart & tricksy thief & con man in Paris in the early 1900s. I knew nothing about it going in, including that there‘s a Netflix series Lupin, based on the character. Enjoyable for mystery fans-there‘s even a story where he crosses paths with the great “Herlock Sholmes.†(I read the Kindle Unlimited edition pictured)

Andrew65 Looks a good read. 1y
JamieArc We have used this in the past with my adult French students. And every semester when I ask what they are watching to improve their French, Lupin is a popular response. 1y
DebinHawaii @JamieArc I may have to give the series a try although I am pretty sure nothing can improve my French! 😉🤣 1y

Funny how my to read list at the moment is alternating very recent series (the Gameshouse) and old ones (starting on Lupin as I never really read it, and re-reading le comte de Monte cristo).

I bought this book through Book Depository after watching LUPIN on Netflix. I enjoyed the series very much, and since it revolves a lot around this book, I decided to get it – and I loved it!

It is the first collection of stories containing 8 short stories of the adventure of Arsene Lupin, known as the gentleman thief and master of disguise, with the appearance of Sherlock Holmes himself in the last story. 🥸🕵â€â™‚ï¸

Mitch I‘d never heard of this until I watched the fabulous Lupin! 3y

I decided to try this because I got totally hooked on Lupin on Netflix. The book is like Sherlock Holmes. Except he's a gentleman thief. I like the Netflix series far more than this book that inspired it.

Settling down to watch Lupin - I didn‘t know Assane Lupin was considered the French Sherlock Holmes

wanderinglynn A friend just recommended this show to me. ðŸ‘🻠(edited) 4y
Mitch @wanderinglynn we just watched episode 1 and it was really good. We‘re mourning the end of Spiral ( final season ever waited last week) - so this is helping continue that French vibe 4y
SW-T I loved that show! Waiting for season 2.... 4y

Lupin is a criminal who often moonlights as a detective. A little zany and predictable for my taste but definitely a good pick if you want light, summer reading. Also, Sherlock Holmes makes an appearance in the final story, which makes for an interesting comparison between French and English values and perceptions.

Added three volumes to #serialreader filled with the adventures of Arsène Lupin, the beloved French gentleman burglar and master of disguise. Follow along as he swipes treasures, evades the law, and even tangled with a certain English detective (whose name was oh so cleverly changed to Herlock Sholmes to avoid copyright issues)

Libby1 Oo! How exciting! Maybe I‘ll look into this after I finish The Faerie Queene. 7y
Libby1 Hello! I was wondering if you could tell me if it‘s possible that other books in The Faerie Queene will be on Serial Reader. I finished the 19 issues earlier today and thought I‘d finished the whole thing! I was dismayed to see I‘d read Book 1 of 6! Also, it might be helpful if the description of the serial explained that this was the first part of a longer work. Thank you! (edited) 7y
SerialReader @Libby1 ack! Sorry about that. I‘ll add the remaining books as soon as I can 7y

Libby1 Thanks, @SerialReader ! I‘m not in a rush and I love your app! 7y
aniket.barik I love the app. I wonder if the Lord of the Rings or Hobbit might be added some day. 6y
SerialReader @aniket.barik Thanks! I don‘t have the rights to distribute those books unfortunately, but maybe one day! (edited) 6y
aniket.barik @SerialReader Ah, it's okay. It certainly has a lot more than I will be able to read anyway. Thanks for the amazing app. :) 6y
