The extraordinary new Lucas Davenport thriller from #1New York Times-bestselling author and Pulitzer Prize winner John Sandford. After the events in Gathering Prey, Lucas Davenport finds himself in a very unusual situation--no longer employed by the Minnesota BCA. His friend the governor is just cranking up a presidential campaign, though, and he invites Lucas to come along as part of his campaign staff. "Should be fun!" he says, and it kind of is--until they find they have a shadow: an armed man intent on killing the governor . . . and anyone who gets in the way.

Thriller audio I haven't been keeping up with the series and it read as a decent enough stand alone. I enjoyed it for being what I would consider a great airplane read. A novel in which things happen and you get to the end with a tidy conclusion and a carrot to entice you to read the next one. If you miss a point or two the overall story isn't lost and it went quickly. That and I like the narrator.

The last time John Sandford disappointed me was 26 years ago, and my parents are jealous.

I really loved this book. I have read all of the Lucas Davenport novels and this is the only one that takes place in Iowa. Being I'm from Davenport it was all the more enjoyable, having been to a lot of the places where Lucas was investigating the bad guys.

After 26 books, I still love this series. After finishing a Prey book, all I want is another one to read.

What to do when the last book you read disappointed you? In my case, read a sure thing. I ❤️ Lucas Davenport.

Follows the usual Sandford formula which always seems to work. This book no exception. Part of the Lucas Davenport series. Timely, politically oriented with domestic terrorism and veterans issues added to the mix. For fans of the genre pretty much top notch.

I am a Lucas Davenport fan girl from the beginning. This plot, including crazies targeting a potential presidential candidate, was particularly strong.

This one was a little different than other Sandford novels but it had some real contemporary feel. Someone trying to kill a presidential candidate! I enjoyed it very much.

ShereeLynn Just got it, ready to read it! Love all things Sandford. 9y

Finishing up EXTREME PREY by John Sandford this morning (out on 4/26). "If you haven't read Sandford yet, you have been missing one of the great summer-read novelists of all time." - Stephen King
