So I found the narrator annoying, but the story pulled me in despite that so it‘s a pick.😄🎃🎧 #scarathlon #teamslaughter @Clwojick

Oak Avenue was a great ending to this series. My favorite plot for a scary story is definitely a haunted house. A couple and their baby daughter move to the husband‘s hometown and purchase an old mansion in desperate need of renovation. The wife struggles to be accepted by the locals while her husband works out of state during the week. Tension builds in their relationship as the house increasingly torments the family. 👻🎃
Meant to post this the other day while I was on a reading spree. I‘ve really been enjoying this short story collection. I‘ve gone outside of my little box by giving these a chance and I wish I wasn‘t about to finish it. #darkcorners #amazonoriginal #ebooks #kindle #shortstories #horror
Ending the series with a bang, Oak Avenue is the first book out of the Dark Corners collection to actually give me chills. Eerie and full of supernatural tension. 5 stars!

There were some creepy moments in this story. It was a serviceable read, a modern-day variation of The Yellow Wallpaper where the male chalks up his wife's concerns about their haunted house to “being tired“ and “her nerves.“ The wife, also the protagonist, doesn't have much agency and is too forgiving, even when she practically becomes a punching bag for her husband at one point. Spousal abuse as a tool for creating tension doesn't work for me.
Audible Exclusive, part of the Dark Corners collection. Free for Prime members to borrow. This kept my attention fairly well. 2 hrs on audio. Nothing scary, but a creepy little story. The narrator didn't annoy me as much in this one as The Sleep Tight Motel.
Has anyone else read the #darkcorners series of short stories on amazon? They are pretty good! Very creepy.
