Mrs. Pollifax on Safari
Mrs. Pollifax on Safari | Dorothy Gilman
7 posts | 12 read | 5 to read
"Mrs. Pollifax is the American cousin to Agatha Christie's Miss Marple." TORONTO STAR Mrs. Pollifax has been sent on safari by the C.I.A. and told only to take pictures of all of her companions, in order to find the international assassin whose next target is the president of Zambia. It sounded so simple, but shortly after Mrs. Pollifax started taking pictures, someone stole her film. And right after that she was kidnapped by Rhodesian terrorists. And right after that--well, read for yourself....

A lovely crime novel with a lovely MC. Somewhere between a Pick and a So-So, since I won't continue the series, but still had a good time while listening to it. It had some good moments, the story is relaxing, but all in all I guess I won't remember it all too long.

A series about a #bumblingdetective in the CIA. She is an elderly woman who is bored and is hired by the CIA because who would believe an old woman can be a spy. She is in Zambia during the apartheid and trying to identify an assassin. A romance is bubbling in this one. #FoodamdLit @Texreader @Catsandbooks #BBRC @LibrarianRyan #SeriesRead2021 @TheSpineView

LibrarianRyan Sounds fun. 3y

My #pollifaxathon is going to continue at home as we socially distance. 😝

If you‘ve never read this series, they‘re about Mrs. Pollifax, a grandmother of 3 who gets bored in retirement, and applies for a job as a CIA courier. Her adventures are hilariously legendary, and always resolve happily. So far in the last week I‘ve been to Albania, Turkey, Bulgaria, and Switzerland with Mrs. Pollifax. And now, on to Zambia!

Crazeedi I've hear of these books, but never read, going to look for them, sounds like fun reads 5y
slategreyskies I‘ve never heard of these. Do they fall into the cozy mystery genre? I‘ll have to look for them at my library! :) 5y
howjessicareads @slategreyskies Yeah they‘re cozy-ish. Although at least someone dies in every book. And a few books have mentions of torture. But Mrs. Pollifax is just a delight! @Crazeedi 5y

Samantha.1020 I‘ve read the earlier books in this series and found them to be delightful! I should reread them and get back to this series soon! 5y
katy4peas I love Mrs. Pollifax! She is similar to Miss Marple with the coziness factor of the plot. Nice choice! 5y
