For fans of Smile and Real Friends comes a debut graphic novel about friendship and finding where you "click" in middle school. Olive wants to get in on the act . . . . . . Any act! Olive clicks with everyone in the fifth gradeuntil one day she doesnt. When a school variety show leaves Olive stranded without an act to join, she begins to panic, wondering why all her friends have already formed their own groups . . . without her. With the performance drawing closer by the minute, will Olive be able to find her own place in the show before the curtain comes up? Author-illustrator Kayla Miller has woven together a heartfelt and insightful story about navigating friendships, leaning on family, and learning to take the stage in the most important role of all.

I actually read this twice to find all 4 word search words 😂 But I really loved this book. Teared up a little at certain points entirely relating to this young girl (and her cool aunt 😜) feeling out of sync with her friend group even as a 30 something oddball myself 🥲 #BatBrigade #Scarathlon #AutumnPlease #Lost #Fear #31by31 #BookSpinBingo September #BookSpin #20in4 #Spookoween #Rushathon

I really liked this middle grade book. I never felt like I clicked with my friends, thought I was stuck following them. This would‘ve been nice to have. Story encourages Olive through not clicking with any of her many friend cliqué she is able to find what she wants. Book tackles her disappointment not being asked to join anybody. Then worry when she does and decides to do her own thing. And it appear to work out.

Similar to Smile, Real Friends, and Nat Enough, but enjoyable in its own right, this MGGN focuses on Olive as the fifth graders prepare for their variety show. Everybody has ideas for their groups, but nobody includes Olive. Upset at first, Olive then is inspired to make her own way. Sometimes the problem isn‘t having no friends, but having lots of friends but no best friend. It puts a little different spin on this genre.

#BookSpin and #DoubleSpin picks. My double spin was a free space so I am assigning it to finally read this fancy edition of The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde & Other Tales for #rereadtheclassics I grabbed this one at bookpeople on my birthday 2 years back and this buddy read is a great excuse to get to it.

AllDebooks Oooh that's a beautiful copy 😍 1y

Cute, relatable book for Telgemeier fans… or anyone who‘s ever felt left out. Did you not get picked when it was group project time?

Adorable #graphicnovel about fifth grader Olive, who realizes when her school announces a variety show that she has lots of friends, but none close enough to team up for an act. She just doesn‘t “click” with any of the cliques. This is a relatable but low-conflict read great for younger fans of Raina Telgemeier and other realistic fiction authors. #kidlit #middlegrade
