If you are tired of reading about women who take a risk on an adventure and find out that the guy they have befriended but disregarded is The One, then read this. The road to romance here is not surprising, but there are interesting markers along the way- like living in Istanbul, attending an opera in Vienna and developing a perfume business, all while also discovering an unknown personal history. A light and pleasing read.

Ethan Daldry uses part of his legacy from his father to take Alice Pendelbury to Instanbul, a city a fortune teller insisted she must visit if she is to find the most important person in her life.

Charming characters find their way to a happy-ever-after but not before their dark backstories are revealed. Very enjoyable.

What a great story, full of mystery and adventure and not what I expected at all! What I liked best about this book was that Alice was actually up for travelling outside her comfort zone to learn the truth. If a fortune teller told me what Alice heard, I‘d probably believe it too because I‘ve read so many novels, but I think the normal person would shrug it off. Some of the geography was off, but it was still a wonderful tale. Book #17 in 2022

Here I was thinking that this was going to be a lighthearted quirky little story, and then it turned out that I was in for a different ride. And I loved it more.

After a stressful week and an exhausting day I needed something light and fun and this fit the bill. Predictable in places and the ending felt rushed, but still an undemanding book that held my attention.

Great book following a woman‘s journey to answer questions & follow her passions. I felt it started off a bit slow, but stick with it! The ending is great 💙

Parts of this book were predictable, but it had a sweet ending and I enjoyed it enough to look into any other books by the same author.

I'm really frustrated right now. The plot of this book sounds quirky, and fun, and original.... but UGHHH, it's so slow and I don't like any of the characters. Reading the reviews online it seems the first 3/4 of the book is slow, with no climax, and has a disappointing ending.

It reminds me of Elenor Oliphant is Completely fine which I DNF'd.

I think I am going to DNF this, but wow, I am so disappointed... but it just annoys me to read it.

Bit of a slow start to this book, but I'm very intrigued by the storyline. 28% done. Cant wait for it to pick up some momentum here.

A fortune Teller suprises Alice by telling her she will meet the single most important person in her life, but she must take a journey to Istanbul to meet 6 other people first. Mr. Daldry, her neighbor, and I presume person #1, will take her to Turkey to experience a whole new life she never knew she was missing.

I ended up loving how this turned out! I found the letters the weakest part of the writing, and I would have just cut the entire Anton angle if it were up to me. But I guess I'm a sucker for fascinating (if heartbreaking) history and I loved almost the entire Turkish part. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I seem to be stuck in a reading world right now where I'm not super excited about anything I'm busy with. Plus I was on a Jane the Virgin binge. Will I ever finish The Vanishing Half? I'm mostly enjoying this, although I find a few elements weak. I long for something unputdownable though.

What an interesting read, and a strange journey indeed. Alice is told by a fortune teller that she must go to Turkey in order to discover the most important person of her life. She is doubtful at first but soon she is haunted by dreams of Istanbul and her neighbor insists on financing her trip to the city. So off they go. ⬇️

Spent the afternoon plant shopping and came home with a good haul. Now I'm relaxing on the porch reading while the bf works in the yard. He spoils me 🥰

Already such an interesting beginning. I think this will be the fun, strange, and light-hearted book I need at this time.

Alice is a scent connoisseur whose life is currently plain and unrewarding. Her neighbor convinces her to trust the fortune-tellers judgement to go on a journey to Turkey to meet 6 new people. And they will lead her to the one true man.

This does seem to have mixed reviews but I love quirky and creative reads!

Starting this novel. I needed a bit of a lighter read after finishing The Great Alone.

The cover is gorgeous and the storyline sounds interesting and fun.

Alice travels to Turkey on a complete whim, encouraged by her rather curious neighbor and a fortune teller. She is told that on this journey she will meet some of the most important people she will ever encounter in her life.

Sounds quite adventurous I like it.

3. The tagged book. I finished 12 books in May (most of them audiobooks). This was by far my favorite.

One of my favorites of this year. I was despairing a bit of current fiction. Every blurb I read: 🙄 (I was in a mood.) Then I found this gem. I admit the cover did have a little part in selling me on the book.

This is another can‘t-put-down book. The story is both light and substantial. I just love learning more and more about the two MCs.

I just finished another book and thought, “I‘ll just *start* this one.” 😀 That‘s the literary equivalent of “I‘ll have just a bite of that cake.” Eighty-eight pages later...

It‘s darkening & rainy early evening. After getting a tick removed, I stopped here to take a first dose of Doxycycline.Why are med people so adverse to giving out the right antibiotic for deer tick? It was engorged, really sore & burning which is why I finally noticed it. I had to insist on doxycycline. I am pretty sure I got it when I dug Em out from under the porch a week ago. 😡 several readers here with me. 📚😄
