“Places with boys always seem so dirty.”

This was a good creepy read. Gavin was raised in a house that took care of him until he met Delilah. The house won‘t give him up without a fight.
I have been on a Christina Lauren book roll and came across this one. I like how these authors fluidly write new stories with new ideas and don‘t get caught in a particular genre or necessarily theme. This was their stab at horror and while I don‘t think this is necessarily the genre for them, I appreciate their willingness to step out of the contemporary storyline.

Did you ever see the movie, Monster House, ..this was like that, but with seventeen-year-olds, and some mushy, gushy romance stuff.

If AHS was a YA book it would be this one. I can just see Evan Peters as Gavin! I don't know if this is way underhyped or I just missed it but I don't know how I've been sleeping on it!
Gavin has been raised by his house his entire life. It loves him & provides for him & keeps him safe. They're family. So it never occurs to him that House won't like his new girlfriend, or that it will go to extremes to keep him home, alone, where he belongs.
I‘ve enjoyed Christina Lauren‘s adult novels, so I figured I‘d try their foray into “YA spooky romance.” It was fun!
It starts out with a magical house, where everything is animate & spirited — kind-of like “Beauty & The Beast.” Then, it slips into *much* darker territory.
The romance was top-notch, per usual. I loved that the first sexual encounter focuses on Delilah‘s pleasure & doesn‘t include the assumption of immediate reciprocity.
Reading in my car on my lunch break with a box of tissues in my lap. I feel like I‘ve had a cold, perpetually, for about three months now. It‘s fine. I‘m convinced the Spring will fix everything.
Come quicker, sunshine & new growth. New England is not-so-patiently awaiting you. ✌🏻🌦🌱🌸

I just have to brag on myself for a bit. My husband and I just moved into a house. I have never had a place that I could decorate with my own colors and style until now. I‘ve either lived in a rented apartment or with my parents. I FINALLY got to paint a house in colors I want, and do everything up the way I wanted. Here is the almost completed living room. We just got the rug today! This is now my favorite room for reading!
Finally a book that has pulled me out of my book slump! I'm loving the whole paranormal vibe this book gives and I absolutely adore how damn ballsy Delilah is! I wish I had her courage to just tell a dude you're taking me out on a date!
