My Generation
My Generation: Die Autobiografie | Roger Daltrey
8 posts | 9 read | 2 to read

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join in if you want!

I finished 6 books and my #bookspin (Ada by Nabokov) is still in progress. I have no bingo, but I'm happy with this month's reading. I liked each book, except for the continuation of The Watsons.

I've always liked The Who, and I've always loved a good rock bio, but these aren't the reasons why I picked up Daltrey's book. I heard him in Marc Maron's podcast a few years ago, and I liked him, and became interested in his story.
His memoir is honest and easy to read. He roughly follows a chronological order but jumps back and forth in time when the subject matter requires, and this worked for me nicely. Some events are barely mentioned... ⬇️

eeclayton ... before he moves on to something else, and I felt I'd have been happier with some more details, but all in all it was a pleasant read with some insight into what life with The Who has been like for Daltrey. 2y
Ruthiella I also really enjoyed this. I thought it was better than Townshend‘s memoir. 2y
eeclayton @Ruthiella I haven't read that one. Does he write more about the songwriting? 2y
Ruthiella @eeclayton Pete does give some insight to the songs, which is great. 2y
eeclayton @Ruthiella Thanks, then I may pick it up later on. 2y

1. I don‘t read enough memoir to have a favorite, but Daltry‘s memoir (tagged) was better than Townshend‘s.🌸

2. If I have a favorite genre, it‘s mystery. But so many authors do it well...Christie, Sayers, P. D. James, Atkinson...🌸

3. I don‘t read enough nonfiction to have a favorite, unfortunately! 🌸

Thanks for the tag @Klou ! If any Littens feel like playing, consider yourself tagged! 😀

Roger Daltrey is no #PocketfulOfSunshine but I am enjoying his #audiobook. As a decades-long fan of The Who, this was pretty much required reading for me. #30JuneBooks #SongsOfSummer

Next book of the year. A present off the other half. Read the first chapter in the bath and so far- think I‘m going to like it. 📖❕❗️

As soon as I heard about this book months ago, I couldn't wait to read it and I wasn't disappointed. I really enjoyed the natural, narrative style Roger Daltrey wrote. It was almost conversational and made the book go by quickly. Definitely not the typical rock star life. I wish there was a little more about his solo career and acting, but I know the focus was The Who. #TheWho #WhoAreYou #RockandRoll
