Well, I am just mad. I LOVE the premise of this book. (I mean, I don‘t want to think about babies drowning, but that may have been a large concern back then too?) My problem is that it gets super preachy about a bunch of stuff and it ruined the fairy tale element, for me...doggone it. I wanted to like this. 😕 197/1,001 #1001Books

Bookwomble Beautiful Arthur Rackham illustration 😍 4y
AshleyHoss820 @Bookwomble If my copy had had these illustrations, it may have been a different experience for me! They‘re absolutely lovely! 4y

Water Babies
This is a children‘s book where Tom Grimes becomes a Water Baby. He meets all sorts of aquatic creatures, including an engaging old lobster, other water babies, & at last reaches St Branden's Isle where he encounters the fierce Mrs Bedonebyeasyoudid & the motherly Mrs Doasyouwouldbedoneby.

Pictured are 2 of my water-baby grandchildren who like to play in puddles and mud!

MrBook Ah! Adorable! 😍 5y

Andrew65 @EadieB Thye are wonderful pictures. 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 My daughter has to lock the doors from the inside as Julian left the house on his own to play in the puddle. He was laying in bed with her and just got up and went outside. 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB Our youngest was just like that! 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 She almost had a heart attack as she thought he was sleeping next to her. Pretty scary! 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB Been there! 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 Chloe must be getting big too! Have you seen her lately? 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB Unfortunately only over Facebook and the regular videos they post. Lockdown means we can‘t visit her. 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 I know that's all I get too! Videos and pictures. 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB It means you miss out on so much of their development! 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 Probably won't be able to see my grandchildren until they come up with a vaccine and how long will that take? 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB 🤞 Have one ready for early next year but far from guaranteed, also have to hope they get a better treatment programme. Plenty of trials of both at the moment. One in Oxford talking about the ‘possibility‘ of a million vaccines by September. 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 Here's info about who in US is working on vaccines:

Andrew65 @EadieB Thanks for these articles, always believed necessity is the mother of invention! Need to continue developing both, drug regime to help treat and lessen the impact, as well as vaccine. My worry is when we have to reopen schools which I think will be beginning of June. Keep talking about how affects children less but what about staff! (edited) 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 That doesn't make sense as children can be carriers. 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB Totally agree! 5y
EadieB @Andrew65 Just left a message for Carol as she can get a copy of Bolton's book here: https://archive.org/details/nationalemergencylibrary 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB Thanks 😊 The Steve Berry Book was also available here but no longer is. 5y
Andrew65 @EadieB Thanks 😊 5y

A cute little story about a poor boys transformation into a fairy creature. It‘s old and has some parts that are kind of drawn out but definitely worth the read.

Jee_HookedOnBookz One of my favs! 6y

I guess I am too old for fairy tales, for being explained the moral and for being called 'little fellow'. #1001books Picture: my brandnew niece!

#FunPhotoFriday! I used to return to this book again and again as a kid, because I loved the illustrations and I loved the strange teachers with funny names. My books are all packed, so I stole this photo from the interwebs.
