I wouldn't have made any of the decisions Anna makes in this book and I hope something happens to shake her out of the numbness she seems stuck in since the death of her husband. I enjoyed the mystery and I like that each of the books in the series features a different National Park but I'm hoping that Anna learns 1- self preservation and 2- a way to connect with people.

Finished last night! Had me guessing until the end! This isn‘t my typical fiction read, but I enjoyed the mystery and National Park setting. I‘ll be continuing along in the series! 3.5⭐️

My mom has been after me to try this series for a while now, and I finally got to it! I was afraid they‘d be very dated, but there were only a few things that made it feel old. It wasn‘t great, but it was entertaining and I can see how the series would develop into a good one, so I‘ll definitely check out more! This is my #femaledetective for #booked2019

Wow! I enjoyed everything about this book! The outdoors, national parks, the mystery, the female heroine in this book, the suspense! Everything! Nick, my cat, approves as well 😁. I can't wait to read the next book in this series!

Jury duty this morning helped me along with a little extra reading time while everyone else was trying not to stay. I‘ve finished this one and it was pretty good. I‘d say it was between a so so and a pick but it gets a pick because I really enjoyed the prequel I read before this one and I‘m invested in the characters so I‘ll probably read the next one.

After reading The Rope for #whodunitbymail, I wanted to try the first book in the series. So far, so good! Thanks @Susanita for a great pick!

This was an ok read - decent enough mystery. The main character, Anna Pigeon, bothered me a bit - maybe could have been fleshed out a bit more. And, since I've worked in vet clinics, the mis-spelling of ketamine really bothered me. I did enjoy the environmental aspect of the book and also found the book quite progressive in its views of sexuality and feminism for a book published in 1993. I might read another by Nevada Barr.

Love the setting (Guadalupe Mountain National Park) although I figured out whodunnit about 2/3 through.

Leaving on vacation today, so I'm 100% reading a mystery novel set in a National Park.

I'm torn between like & so-so! I loved the descriptions of the park, the atmosphere, I liked the story but I wasn't too sure if I liked Anna. It doesn't really matter- I enjoyed it enough to request the next book from the library! 😂

I picked this up from the library- I'm hoping to read it this afternoon! 🙌🏼 I liked listening to Nevada Barr speak in the National Parks book!
