Holy crap!! And to think that this is quite possibly a true story. There were many eyewitnesses to the paranormal activity. I never would have survived a hunting for as many years as the Bell family did! The only downfall is that this book wasn‘t broken down into chapters. It was written in a letter format, from a father to his daughter. Now I need to watch the movie that is based on this story.

I participated in two Secret Santa swaps this year (including the #librarything). Here‘s the booty. More mystical reading for 2021. I‘ll feel a lot better after my first Covid vaccine today! #stillasciencebeliever

Last bit of #BookMail came in today. I'm so excited to read this one! Has anyone heard about it or read it?

JenniferEgnor I read this many years ago. The Bell Witch story has always been fascinating. 5y
BeansPage @JenniferEgnor yes it has for me too as well. I am really looking forward to reading this book. 5y
RainyDayReading I know the story of the Bell Witch but I‘ve never read anything about it. Hope it‘s good! 5y

DAY 1: This #AmericanHorror took place not far from where I live. According to local lore, in the early 19th century, a shapeshifting poltergeist know as The Bell Witch tormented the Bell family, eventually killing the father. I don‘t do ghost stories, but I‘ve heard this book is pretty good. It‘s the basis for the 2005 film An American Haunting.

First mistake was listening to this on audible. He narrator was seriously awful. Second mistake was thinking that it was going to be a scary ghost story. This was seriously so boring and disappointing. This was the pick in my book club this month and it was definitely a dud.

😱 Here we go 😱

britt_brooke There's no way I could ever read this (I'm a scaredy cat), but Adams, Tennessee is not too far from where I currently live. 8y
BookwormBeth lol @britt_brooke I'm probably not too far either I'm in Southwest Virginia near the Tennessee border. I've always been super into this legend & have been dying to go there. Maybe some day 8y
8leagueboot I need to read this. I just put a pin in it on goodreads the other day! Hex makes a reference to the legend as well, if you end up reading it. 8y
BookwormBeth I liked it it's one of my favorite legends. Ooh that's it I'm ordering it Now! Lol 8y
