3⭐️ Phew, I feel so stressed out and emotionally drained after finishing this book. Definitely not one that I‘d pick myself if I knew that there‘s sexual assault scene and the PTSD that follows

Just started this... Has anyone read it?
I got this ARC copy at BookExpo 2019; the lady at the booth told me that “if you like Donna Tartt, this one is for you,” so I just grabbed it ☺️
So one of the customers bought a paper then took the junk out and told me to have the magazine so tonight I was flipping through bit and I came across 2 whole pages of book recommendations.
I hope you can see them all in the picture.

This is an amazing novel, but an aggressive examination of rape, so consider this a true trigger warning, something I don‘t normally do.
The rape was blunt and raw and aggressive (though not long or drawn-out) and so is the PTSD as described. It‘s a powerful book , but not for everyone. #belletristbooks #triggerwarning #audible
This book tackled heavy issues like sexual assault, substance abuse, and self-harm. An unflinching, honest look at the aftermath of rape - how it rips apart friendships, impedes daily living, and disrupts functional romantic relationships. The first half of this book read quickly, but I found the second half to be a bit slow. Although the content is important and timely, the delivery is certainly not action packed. A slow burn. ⭐⭐⭐⭐/ 5
🎉IT‘S (NOT) NEW BOOK DAY!🎉 Who has two thumbs and had a bad allergic reaction to medication Monday night? Me! So I was unable to get post new releases yesterday. I still don‘t feel great, but I feel better. So here are some of the week‘s new books! There are several more out this week that I am excited about, including All the Bad Apples, Everything Inside: Stories, Wonton Terror, Doxology, and Dead Voices. What are you excited to read? 📚❤️📚
I took two of my library books back this afternoon, determined not to get anymore (frankly, my tbr pile is gargantuan - I smile fondly at tbr shelves and piles 🤦🏼♀️). And here we are. I need to read another JCO book after My Life As A Rat, and What Red Was just seemed to throw itself at me!
This reminded me a lot of Donna Tartt‘s The Secret History writing-wise. I didn‘t really like any of the characters, but I was compelled to know what happened. Price does an excellent job of examining the aftermath of sexual assault from so many different angles, not only from the victim‘s POV but how it affects others in her life. Really impressive debut novel and I look forward to reading more of her work.
Just want to check in with you guys @bookandcat and @TsundokuAleax about this being my pick for #lmpbc. I started reading and it has a fairly graphic sexual assault in it and don‘t want to make either of you uncomfortable. Let me know if you want me to pick something else and I‘m totally fine with it.
Hard to say this was an enjoyable read because of the subject matter. But I think it‘s a fantastic debut and I‘m a bit in awe that the author is only 25.
There are lots of sub plots with various POV, but I think it works well reflecting the chaotic, messy lives of the characters.
Can‘t wait to see what the author does next.
