Devil's Bride
Devil's Bride | Stephanie Laurens
9 posts | 35 read | 9 to read
When Devil, the most infamous member of the Cynster family, is caught in a compromising position with plucky governess Honoria Wetherby, he astonishes the entire town by offering his hand in marriage. No one dreamed this scandalous rake would ever take a bride. And as society mamas swooned at the loss of England?s most eligible bachelor, Devil?s infamous Cynster cousins began to place wagers on the wedding date. But Honoria wasn?t about to bend society?s demands and marry a man "just" because they?d been found together virtually unchaperoned. No, she craved adventure, and while solving the murder of a young Cynster cousin fit the bill for a while, she decided that once the crime was solved she?d go off to see the world. But the scalding heat of her unsated desire for Devil soon had Honoria craving a very different sort of excitement. Could her passion for Devil cause her to embrace the enchanting peril of a lifelong adventure of the heart?

For me, the best romance books are the ones that make me laugh as hard as I sigh. & while I did do the latter from time to time, the former not so much. First, I liked the hero but the heroine was much staider than I expected. The dialogue had only glimmers of witty banter. This in turn kind of made the plot drag. Also, the hero‘s possessiveness at some turns stopped being sexy or cute & veered slightly into “not ok” territory. ★★☆☆☆.

#7days7books This was my introduction to romance at the tender age of 10 😂 I was reading far above my grade level and while my mom censored the sh** out of tv (but really only what my dad watched- simpsons bad- melrose place fine 😂) she had no idea what to do with books so she just let me read what she read.

CoverToCoverGirl Oh my.. if she‘d only known! 🤭👀😂 (edited) 4y
BethM @CoverToCoverGirl she read them first 😱🤦‍♀️😂 4y

When you pull an unread romance off your shelf and turn it over and the back makes you wonder how long you‘ve owned it without reading it. I think I‘ve had it since it was pubbed in 1998. Love the cheeseball illustration! Bwahahaha. #romantsy

robinb 🤣🤣He looks a little vampirish with that cape and the intensity of his gaze! 😳👀 6y
BookNAround @robinb I can totally see that. Maybe I should doodle in two fangs. (Not really since my books generally stay pristine looking but it‘s fun to think about, no?) 6y

Sace So happy to know I'm not the only one who waits so long to read books I've purchased. 😕 6y

The first of the fantastic Cynster series. Devil Cynster, the alpha-est of alpha heroes, meets his match in Honoria Anstruther-Wetherby, when they try to solve the murder of Devil's cousin, Tolly. More importantly, we meet the other members of the "Bar Cynster", Devil's equally appealing cousins. Laurens went on to write many more books about the Cynster family, but the first six are undoubtedly the best.
