Just before Halloween, over-the-air ABC showed the movie Hocus Pocus Two. We really liked it 🎬💝.
To my surprise, it was completely different from the book!
Which one I liked more 📚🤔🎬 is difficult to say...
Neither is perfectly good as part one, yet I enjoyed both continuations.

Hocus Pocus & The All New Sequel | 
Watching Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker returning as Winifred, Mary, and Sarah Sanderson was splendid fun.
My two favorite parts of the movie are:
1- The beginning, showing the Sanderson sisters as children and how they truly received their book.
2- And the ending, showing Winifred's love for her sisters is genuine.
I also liked the message of the movie, that magic is meant to be shared.

With the book, it was equally as nice that the whole cast returns (or are mentioned).
While the novelization to the original was in the 3rd POV. This continuation is from Poppy's POV (Allison's and Max's daughter). I liked this.
Loved having an update on “all“ the original characters, which seemed respectful to the original story.
The very ending, which was focused on the Sanderson's Book of Shadows was surprising and interesting.

The original movie and the novelization are amongst my five-star favorites ⭐⭐🌟⭐⭐.
With the continuations:
While the book had the extra add of a blooming relationship between Poppy and a character named Isabella, both movie and book focus on the power of friendship.
Yet I believe that there was something important missing from both versions.

The movie continuation kept this only with the Sanderson sisters.
I would have like a kid sibling mixed somewhere into both continuing storylines. Like maybe with the book, have given Isabella a little sister and kinda turn the tables on the first character setup...
For this reason, both continuations will always be four stars...sorry.
