Snapped this while getting some preparatory reading done. So excited for this next chapter 🩵
A reminder to us all from the book that is changing my life!
“The conversation of Poe and Dracula. This was to be a moment in the history of imagination.” 🤩 What a line!!! #Scarathlon2022 #TeamMonsterMash
Can you tell it‘s spooky season? Got an audio, kindle, and paperback horror books going at all at once 😂 #Scarathlon2022 #TeamMonsterMash
So excited that books 1-6 of this series is on prime reading!! I read Haunting Charlie a while back not thinking I would like it and now here I am on book 5. This is my comfort spooky series now 👻 #scarathlon2022 #TeamMonsterMash
Had a lot of fun watching this to kick off October. 🧙🏻♀️ 🎃 🐈⬛ #scarathlon2022 #teammonstermash
Ambitious but I‘ve been waiting a long time for all of these titles and why not go big or go home? Hoping to watch the new Hocus Pocus tonight!!! #scarathlon2022 #teammonstermash #tbr
You could say I‘m on a strong female lead kick 🤩
Moved on to the sequel for more research for my old lady character. This one is different though because Maud is reminiscing on past crimes that were committed long before those in the first collection. She‘s such an interesting character and she makes you cheer her on as she racks up a body count ☠️
I start my spooky season in September and I knew I wanted to kick off with Riley Sager. This was everything I wanted it to be and managed to thrill and surprise me left and right. Now I need suggestions for what spooky book to read next so please send me some recs!
Asked my coworker for weekend book recs for my toddler and this one was a hit with the whole family!! So funny and full of puns which is my favorite type of humor 😂
Character research since I‘m playing a mischievous old lady 😂 this is a delightful geriatric serial killer.
In my happy place at rehearsal. I laughed out loud just reading this play and now I get to perform it 🎭 😊 🤩
Any Superfan of The Office simply HAS to read this book. It‘s like really being on the set of the show.
WOW 🤩 This was absolutely amazing. Very intense with a satisfying ending. I was riveted throughout and could not get enough. I am so glad I did the audio version because Joanne Froggatt is AMAZING! I often forgot it was her I was so sucked into the story.
Picked up another graphic novel haul from the library because this finally came in on reserve for me!
Matches my bedspread because I love beach/island/coastal color schemes 🏝 A bunch of friends on Goodreads have been raving about this one and it‘s been on my list a long time. Time to read it up!
My 3YO got the one on top at a book fair and I thought the dinosaur looked familiar. Sure enough, the first book is at the library. When I brought it home he immediately grabbed it and ran to compare it to the other book. He knew it was Penelope Rex! Both of these are wonderful and adorable. 👍 🥰🤩
I checked this out forever ago and put off starting it because I knew I wouldn‘t be able to put it down. I‘m already halfway through it and making great progress on it this lazy weekend. 🤓
I‘m completely obsessed with Silk. I‘m so glad to find female superheroes that have their own identities and aren‘t just “the female version” of a male counterpart. She‘s the one I relate to the most so far ❤️ 🕷
I was nervous about getting into audiobooks but I have an hour commute and figured I could reach my reading goals faster if I start. I started with this one because it was short and was recommended by a friend. I‘m picky about readers on audiobooks and this one has two great readers for the two points of view. It‘s a harrowing, beautiful, true story. It heralds the virtue of perseverance and makes you appreciate what you have for sure!
The third in the Golden Arrow series. They‘re all super fun if you‘re in the mood for something exciting and heavily geared towards nerds which I enjoyed 🤓 I love the characters so much. Again, just fun and nerdy. 💜
Winding down from birthday party weekend with a good vampire book. I love having a day off during the week once in a while 🎃 #scarathlon2021 #teamhendrix
Just the physical books on my #ScarathlonTBR because I have a ton more on my kindle I‘ve been saving for spooky season. I‘ve been waiting for this spree all year! #Scarathlon2021 #TeamHendrix
A couple of scores from the Friends of the Library book sale ❤️
Frantically trying to read all the comics I checked out of the library on time. 🧟♀️
I heard about this book from a meme where the author tweeted a bad review and clapped back that he was sorry his book about vampires on a submarine wasn‘t “realistic enough” for him. I knew immediately I had to read this book. It‘s so crazy it works. A submarine WOULD be the perfect place for a vampire. But how on earth (or at sea) could the humans stand a chance against them? Read and find out. It was a satisfying ride!
This guy makes the best references 😂 Referring to the Spider-man ride at Universal Studios 🎢
I got a new job at the library!!! This is my first check-out with my staff card 👾 I‘ve been so excited to read this 🤓
I wanted to read this book as a child but never got the chance. Reading it now as an adult I know I would have loved this book back then. It‘s an interesting survival narrative of a girl alone on an island that reminds me a bit of Hatchet, another childhood favorite of mine. It comforts me to know there are books like this with strong female protagonists for young girls to read.
I was heartbroken in elementary school when I didn‘t get put in the reading group for this book. Finally going to dive in after all these years!
Made 300 books read on Goodreads with this gem! It is exactly what it claims to be: a description of the way each famous writer sits down and gets it done. I read it during breaks at work and each chapter is the perfect length for that. It gives great insight as to what did and did not work for these authors. As a result, it can also serve as a look at what may or may not work for aspiring authors. I loved this book!
Learning about writers‘ work lives while baby boy naps :)
Reading Spider-Man while hubby plays the new Spider-Man game!
Started the book that‘s been on my Goodreads To Read shelf the longest and have already flown through Part One! I love the way he writes. I read the Kite Runner in high school so I guessed I would like this too and so far it is great!
I‘ve wanted to read this ever since I saw the movie. The movie is a cinematic masterpiece but it hinted that there was way more story to be found under there which I assumed could be found in the book. I was right! This story is gripping and spooky. The characters and the story are 100 times more fleshed out in the novel. I tried not to read it at night because it is very creepy and has different scares than the movie. 10/10 Great horror novel.
Just finished completely tearing through this book! It felt just like playing a video game. Super addictive and satisfying at the same time. I don‘t know if it would hold up well on a re-read but it sure was a fun ride on the first read.
Just noticing that witch hunts seem to really get going in April. Just weird coincidence noticed after reading up on Salem so much.
So happy I'm finally getting to read this!!! Flying through it. I feel like I'm really on Mars when I open this book.
I use Harry Potter bookmarks when it's J. K. Rowling even when it's not Harry Potter. Finally starting this one!
Made it through one year of Salem Witch Trials. Happy new year!
