Return to the Isle of the Lost
Return to the Isle of the Lost: A Descendants Novel | Melissa de la Cruz
26 posts | 33 read | 21 to read
Mal's an expert at intimidating her enemies, but she's broken the habit since leaving her villainous roots behind. So when she and her friends Evie, Carlos, and Jay all receive threatening messages demanding they return home, Mal can't believe it. Sure, she's King Ben's girlfriend now, and she's usually nice to her classmates, but she still didn't think anyone would be silly enough to try to push her around. The thing is, it kind of worked. Especially since she and her friends have a sneaking suspicion that their villainous parents are behind the messages. And when Evie looks into her Magic Mirror, what she sees only confirms their fears. Maleficent's just a tiny lizard after her run-in with Mal at Ben's Coronation, but she's the worst villain in the land for a reason. Could she have found a way to escape? Whatever's going on, Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay know they have to sneak back to the Isle and get to the bottom of it. Without its infamous leader, the island's even worse than when they left it, but the comforts of home-even a home as gloomy as the Isle of the Lost-can be hard to resist for recently reformed villains. Will the kids be able to beat the evil bubbling at the Isle's wicked core, or will the plot to destroy Auradon succeed?

Melody wouldn't leave me alone long enough to take the picture. Since she was insisting on being there, I decided to make her a part of it. I don't think she was very happy about it.

I actually didn't care for this book. I had high expectations for it based on how much I enjoyed the first book. This one was written in a way that felt like a first draft. I found that I was only reading it so I could get it finished.

4✨ The second book in the descendants series was just as adventurous as the first. Mal, Carlos, Jay, and Evie get strange messages that they believe come from their parents. When they investigate they uncover more than they thought they would.

So. I did nothing productive this Labor Day (totally used today as a “no-pants” day). Anyway, I saw the first movie and finished listening to this one.

I love the characters in this book (and the movie) also I am a sucker for YA (maybe this is even younger than YA) anyway. I‘ll try to watch part 2 movie tonight or tomorrow then start book 3 :)

So I saw the cover of the book and was confused because it looked like a cookie :)

The last book I was reading, Alex and Eliza, has gone missing, lol. I‘ve been looking around for it for almost two months now. I decided to stop my search (for now) and just start this one.

3.5/5.0
Although it was somewhat better than the first, it still was pretty repetitive and common sense was amiss. I keep forgetting the Disney Channel is involved in this series in some way. Even though I love Disney/Pixar I can't do the Disney Channel. Which explains alot for my feelings toward this series, I suppose. On to the third and final then I can start something I know will be great. THE NIGHT CIRCUS!

After the disappointing first novel, I'm not too keen on starting the second. Although, I'm not a quitter. And I hate giving up on anything Disney. So, I'll finish the series.

MaryAnn1 Ha ha!! I love that you're no quitter! 😊 7y

Just helped a lost grandma find this book for her granddaughter at our local Barnes and Noble. I showed her how to use the computer to locate books but she didn't want to try it so I did it for her. No employees in sight I think they were swamped on another floor. I always wanted to work in a bookstore!

I enjoyed this book. It was good to get to see the villain's kid journey through learning what it means to be good.

It irritates me that they bookended a movie with 2 books and then made it impossible to find the movie. There was a synopsis of what happened and I filled in some holes with IMDb but I still feel like I missed a lot. That said, its not the books fault and it's a great feel good book thus far.

Isle of the Lost and Descendants were so good. I'm excited to finish this! Halfway through and the suspense is killing me. Where are Jafar, Evil Queen, and Cruella?
