The cat comics were cute and made me smile. The rest of the book was okay but not great. The artwork wasn‘t what I expected, not good, but each artist has her own style.

This will come off my next month #bookspin and be replaced with a free space.

Quirky art and some laugh out loud parts. There are some seriously funny comics in here, and it is totally worth it to wade through the few that aren‘t quite as great.

Has anyone read this story from The New Yorker? There‘s so much about consent and misunderstanding in here that I feel it‘s worth a read. Also, power and men and women and how these dynamics can unfold and roles get played and sometimes they are so subtle that you miss them... or more often than not, choose to ignore them in favor of what you want. Check it out: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2017/12/11/cat-person

Natasha.C.Barnes Yes!! This story is so good. Glad to hear about her recent book deal. 7y
Cinfhen Thanks for sharing and posting 💜very interesting piece 7y
GuiltyFeat I was sucked in by the hype... and it kinda lives up to it. Sucks that we have to wait til 2019 for her collection. 7y

haanim Read it! It‘s so good, but kinda disturbing too 😅 7y
Betty Enjoyed it! Thanks for bringing it to our attention 7y
OrangeMooseReads I tried to read just so I knew what people were talking about, but couldn‘t get passed the first paragraph or two. The writing didn‘t appeal to me. 7y
StaceyKondla I read it, but it took me several attempts. Not my favourite genre and I didn't like Margot or Robert. I found them to both be icky and Robert was beyond icky at the end. 7y
Owlizabeth Oooh, I really liked that. Thanks for the hot tip! 7y

Note: This is a short story in the New Yorker by Kristen Roupenian and not the book in the database.
This story was published in the New Yorker a few weeks back and received quite a bit of hype because of the #metoo zeitgeist. However, while I found it relatable, it was mediocre. It read like a case study, as if the author had been hired to write it for a girls' dating textbook and far beneath the standards of the magazine.

OrangeMooseReads I tried to read it today and couldn‘t get past the first paragraph lol I still don‘t really know what the hype about it is but apparently it was enough to get the author a 7 digit book deal. 7y
SuperPunkNinja @OrangeMooseReads Exactly! I'm so glad I'm not the only one. 7y
StaceyKondla I started reading this one yesterday and keep putting it down - the writing is decent, but the subject matter is so intensely naval gazing and shallow it just isn't keeping my interest. 7y

This was delightful! I laughed my way through almost the entire book. Seo included comics about her life, her cat Jimmy and her boyfriend Eddie. Loved them all. The handful of miscellaneous comics at the very end were cute but just okay compared to Seo's more personal comics.
