Cinder & Ella
Cinder & Ella | Kelly Oram
It's been almost a year since eighteen-year-old Ella Rodriguez was in a car accident that left her crippled, scarred, and without a mother. After a very difficult recovery, she's been uprooted across the country and forced into the custody of a father that abandoned her when she was a young child. If Ella wants to escape her father's home and her awful new stepfamily, she must convince her doctors that she's capable, both physically and emotionally, of living on her own. The problem is, she's not ready yet. The only way she can think of to start healing is by reconnecting with the one person left in the world who's ever meant anything to her-her anonymous Internet best friend, Cinder. ... Hollywood sensation Brian Oliver has a reputation for being trouble. There's major buzz around his performance in his upcoming film The Druid Prince, but his management team says he won't make the transition from teen heartthrob to serious A-list actor unless he can prove he's left his wild days behind and become a mature adult. In order to douse the flames on Brian's bad-boy reputation, his management stages a fake engagement for him to his co-star Kaylee. Brian isn't thrilled with the arrangement-or his fake fiancee-but decides he'll suffer through it if it means he'll get an Oscar nomination. Then a surprise email from an old Internet friend changes everything."

This story had me in tears a few times. Ella has so many struggles to overcome and it made the ending incredibly sweet and beautiful. Loved the witty banter with Cinder. I waited too long to read this, but I‘m glad I finally did. All the feels = all the stars. ❤️

1. Two of my seven closest friends (people I hang out with regularly) I met in middle school. So I‘ve known them around 27-28 years
2. Aboard the Carnival Vista. Sunset at sea is so pretty.
3. Food smells. Things baking, a grill. They usually mean family gatherings
4. Tagged. Really enjoyed it.
5. Hi Littens 👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾

Light, easy read with a modern day twist on the classic novel. It‘s a little bit of a retelling, but also missing many of the stereotypical elements. Ella is not a servant in her own home, her father is alive, her stepmom is nice, and her two sisters are not completely evil. Just discovered there‘s a sequel. #Book15of2018

Mehso-so

This was my first read from this author and I found it to be a solid, cute and well written story.
Solid characterization throughout the book, even down to the mean kids and their antics, which let me say I really despised a few, Oram has created, although predictable, a very good book with some very likable characters.

Bailedbailed

This just wasn‘t for me. The female protagonist‘s voice didn‘t ring true and the male protagonist was the worst. I almost bailed close to the beginning with a gross scene between the high school senior girl and her 28-year-old physical therapist. Ew.

I'm a sucker for a good fairy tale retelling. This took me a couple chapters to get into and then bam! All the feels. Plus I'm using it for #betterworldbookschallenge (based on a fairy tale) and also #MtTBRChallenge

Too dark to read my print book on the way home (and I'm so close to being done) so good thing I had my trusty nook along too!

This book hit me so hard. I was expecting it to be just a cute fluffy romance. But it had so much depth to it. It was so real. It made me think about disability, choice, family, knowing your limits, respecting others' views. It was amazing. ❤️
