Yup - this was perfect for me right now. I am loving the Meant to Be series of retellings- and this Little Mermaid with a Latin twist was so fun!

This might be my favorite of the Meant to Be series so far. A modern retelling of The Little Mermaid with a unique Latinx flair. I was genuinely invested in Ariel and Eric's relationship.

Absolutely fantastic! Loved this installment of Disney‘s Little Mermaid imagined for grown ups. Ariel, one of 6 sisters in a world renowned girl band, meets Eric, an up and coming musician who loves music, except for hers. Mistaken identity, forced proximity, quirky bandmates, and an adorable guinea pig make for a charming story full of life and heart. Great on #audio. #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

5✨ I love this series! This one is a little mermaid retelling about two singers. It follows the story most of us grew up knowing from Disney, but oh man is it better than I expected. 🥰 #SeriesLove @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

The Princess in Black | Shannon Hale, Dean Hale

“With luck, the battle would be quick. Duchess Wigtower was in Princess Magnolia's castle. Her castle was full of secrets. Especially the broom closet. The princess in Black hoped the duchess would not snoop.“

This book is intended for children between the ages of four and seven. After looking over the book I would have to agree. This seems to be a very fun, engaging, and adventurous story for children of these ages to interact with. It is a very easy read with illustrations to help in depicting the plot. This book is also a part of a series which can allow children the opportunity to build on their understanding across other books within in the series.

This story is an example of speculative fiction as it possesses elements including fantasy, fairy tales, magic, and mythical creatures. In this story Princess Magnolia tries her best to hide her alter ego as the Princess in Black from her the nosy Dutchess. While still maintaining the duties she is upheld to as the Princess in Black, which includes transforming into a superhero who protects her kingdom from monsters.
