This book has really interesting ideas that may apply to the college classroom. It was a bit marketing-focused for my own purposes, but very interesting.

I really like what these authors shared. A great way to teach, even if it's a bit of risk taking, because isn't that what we want our students to do.

Spencer and Juliani‘s Empower is an inspiring professional read focused on the philosophies behind student empowerment. The authors‘ focus on moving beyond compliance and engagement is thought-provoking. A worthy follow-up to their FABULOUS book Launch.

We prefer to use the word improve rather than fix, because fix implies something is broken. However, improved tells the students that what they created is good and they have the chance to make it even better. #librariansoflitsy #teachersoflitsy

Lots of professional reading going on right now. Really liking this one.

So, I read this book yesterday, plus their follow-up book, Explore. Now, I am participating in a webinar. I guess this is my work weekend, but it is good stuff!

I highly recommend to every teacher reads his book. Although all the ideas are not new, they are valid and put in the framework that is very teacher friendly. If you are a fan of Daniel Pink or Sir Ken Robinson, you will be able to make direct connections between this book and their work. Providing opportunities for students to explore their personal passions and providing a framework for it will result in extremely high student engagement.

I taught for 10 years and the highlighted passage is a good description of what my classroom look like on many days. We had an amazing time doing research and solving real world problems, so we were very messy!
