This week‘s book — Sharon Creech‘s BLOOMABILITY — took author Kaitlyn Hill and I on a dreamy journey to a Swiss boarding school… and as you‘ll hear on Episode 247 of my book podcast, we loved every moment of the ride. Tune in to hear us chat about dysfunctional families, the timelessness of Sharon Creech‘s work, dream journals, making new friends, and more. Listen at the link in my bio! 🌸🏔️
Swiss boarding school anyone? This was a quick middle grade audio.
My first #roll100 read complete ✅
My roll list is the first 100 books on my TBR list and I‘ve wanted to read this one since I was a teenager. I loved me some Sharon Creech! Definitely felt some wanderlust while reading the MC‘s experiences at a Swiss boarding school, but I only consider this a soft pick. Some elements of the story felt underdeveloped and left me wondering about a lot of loose ends
Decided to participate in #roll100 as well to further help with my massive TBR. Instead of writing out a separate list, I decided to go with the first 100 books on my GR TBR to focus in on the titles that have been TBR the longest. Since I started my TBR in high school, the first 100 are pretty YA heavy, as you can see from these first two rolls. I loved Creech as a teen, so I‘m especially looking forward to Bloomability

Realistic fiction read, would pre-teach vocab for ELL and non-ELLs. UDL foster collaboration and community. A story about adolescence and finding oneself. A girl is "kidnapped" from her loving family and thrown somewhere she isn't particularly fond of at first. Would use as LC. I read this book the summer before 6th grade! Country 43: On my way out of Liechtenstein, I stopped in Lugano, Switzerland, a beautiful lakeside and mountainside town that is the setting for Bloomability. It was nice to revisit.
I love Sharon Creech and this might be my favorite book by her. Dinnie and her boarding schoolmates are rendered so beautifully in a coming of age story. A reread, this was the book that made me love the Italian language. 5/5
My favorite vegan-friendly bakery just announced they will be rebranding into "Bloom Bindery, a cookie bakery, coffeeshop, and bookstore." ???
Welp. I'm going to be fat and broke, but at least I'll be well-read! ??
