Frankenstein: Prodigal Son
Frankenstein: Prodigal Son: A Novel | Dean Koontz, Kevin J. Anderson
From the celebrated imagination of Dean Koontz comes a powerful reworking of one of the classic stories of all time. If you think you know the story, you know only half the truth. Get ready for the mystery, the myth, the terror, and the magic of Dean Koontz's Prodigal Son Every city has secrets. But none as terrible as this. His name is Deucalion, a tattooed man of mysterious origin, a sleight-of-reality artist whos traveled the centuries with a secret worse than death. He arrives as a serial killer stalks the streets, a killer who carefully selects his victims for the humanity that is missing in himself. Detective Carson OConnor is cool, cynical, and every bit as tough as she looks. Her partner Michael Maddison would back her up all the way to Hell itselfand that just may be where this case ends up. For the no-nonsense OConnor is suddenly talking about an ages-old conspiracy, a near immortal race of beings, and killers that are moreand lessthan human. Soon it will be clear that as crazy as she sounds, the truth is even more ominous. For their quarry isn t merely a homicidal maniacbut his deranged maker. BONUS: This edition contains an excerpt from Dean Koontz's The City.

Another year, another dinner. I still have a bit of cleanup to do but the toddler is down for the count and I just want to sit for a bit. Pie and Prodigal Son for a bit then maybe a book and bath later 👍

Happy Thanksgiving weekend to all celebrating 😊

I obviously am a fan of Dean Koontz. Unfortunately, I didn‘t love his adaptation of Frankenstein. It was probably me, I had difficulty concentrating on the audiobook due to a few mental distractions. Right now, I‘m not sure if I will continue with the series. Knowing myself I probably will at some point because I would like to give it another try, but it won‘t be a priority. #MountTBR

Twainy I enjoyed the first 3!! 3y
NatalieR @Twainy Good to know! You‘re giving me motivation to try the next one! 😀 3y
Twainy I read them a long time ago but as I remember he wrote the first 3 with another author & the last two by himself so if you don‘t like the first one you might like the last 2? I liked them all but the first 3 I liked a bit more, they felt a little ... lighter? Funnier? IDK LOL 3y
NatalieR @Twainy Thanks so much for your input! 😊 3y

I‘ve read a decent amount of Dean Koontz‘s books, but never got around to this series.

A dark twist on the classic story of Frankenstein. I loved the graphics, their tones helped the mood of the story....frankenstein with 2 hearts, both from murderers in a prison graveyard.....

This is a great modern day retelling. In this series Frankenstein's monster is cursed with immorality and is going after his maker.

Linsy Sounds intriguing! I love a good retelling/reframing. 6y

Absolutely loved this book and looking forward to reading the rest of the series. There's quite a few of Victor's creations running around New Orleans creating havoc and two detectives are trying to get them before they hurt more people. Love the characters and the story. I so did not guess the 2nd killer. I give this book 5 stars

An interesting twist on an old classic. Frankenstein, both doctor and monster, live in modern day, immortal and dangerous.
A new race is being created and Deucalion, the creature's new alias, must help NOLA detectives stop the murders these creatures bring. Loved this book! And the entire series!
