You can't run away from danger when you can't hear it coming for you... New York Times bestselling author Karen Rose returns with a new thriller in her chilling Cincinnati series. Michael Rowland is not your typical teenager. He's always looked out for his five-year-old brother Joshua, and he's deaf. When his stepfather comes after Joshua, Michael takes him and runs. He's determined to protect his brother at all costs - even if that means making himself vulnerable to a danger he can't hear coming. And the danger gets worse when Michael witnesses a stranger kill his stepfather. Desperate and afraid, the boys have nowhere to go but to Joshua's soccer coach, journalist and ex- Army ranger, Diesel Kennedy. When Diesel sees Michael is wounded, he takes them to see Doctor Dani Novak, not only because she can sign with the deaf, but because he's drawn to her and everything she stands for. She never refuses his requests because she feels the connection, as well, but resists for a reason she feels she can never confess. When Dani learns that Michael saw the face of his stepfather's killer, she and Diesel know they have to figure out who the mysterious murderer actually is. They quickly learn that they may have a serial killer on their hands--and all signs point to Michael as the next target.

Finished this one yesterday. Another great book by Karen Rose. This one centers around Dani and Diesel. And then revolves around two boys who need them both. There is some dark stuff that happens and the whole gang is there to protect and catch the bad guy. Can't say too much without giving anything away but I always love her books.

This book was awesome! I love the story of Dani and Diesel! I think one of the things that I really enjoyed about this book was how the author wrote the ASL portions. It was just part of the character's dialog. I also love how Dani and Diesel 'rescue' two boys...but through that experience they are both healed. ♥️📖

Starting today. Love her thrillers so know I'll get sucked into it. Happy March Littens! It's my birthday month, so I'm trying to make it a positive, happy month. We just won't talk about the number I'm turning. 😉

BiblioLitten Hope you have a great month!🎉 5y
tracey38 @BiblioLitten thank you! 5y
BookNAround A number's just a number and whatever it is, it sure beats the alternative (from a fellow March baby who is turning 49 this month). 5y
tracey38 @BookNAround very true! I don't think it's the actual age that gets to me, more what I feel I should have accomplished by this time in my life that I haven't, I guess. And I'm in my 40s as well. 😉 Happy birthday month to you too! 5y

I was thrilled when Into the Dark was released, so excited to read Diesel and Dani‘s story. Once again, Rose gives us a sensational book, which not only keeps us on the edge of our seats with intense and exciting action, but was also an emotional and heartwarming story. With a secondary cast that are all interconnected and making appearances from past stories in this series. For me, Into the Dark starts off with a bang, and ends with a KABOOM!

I am thinking that Audiobooks are becoming my favorite format. I mean I still love a good physical book. Nothing beats curling up with a good book, but man I love Audiobooks and what they offer.

#Audiobook appreciation

MidnightBookGirl ME TOO! I listen to them when I'm just doing stuff around the house and getting ready in the mornings, and before I go to sleep, and when I drive, and do crafts and housework, when I go for walks... pretty much always a big part of my day! 5y
rsteve388 Yeah they are so versatile and can be used to make anything more enjoyable. 5y
coffees That cover 👌👌 5y
ljuliel I‘ll jump on the Audiobook bandwagon myself. I listened to my first one 5 years ago, and they‘ve slowly become my favorite. They add so much more color and life to books if they‘re done well by good narrators. 5y
rsteve388 Yeah I agree! @ljuliel 5y

This is an emotional, yet dark and compelling thriller. The heartbreaking abuse alongside a murder mystery is so gripping, it made me angry, tearful and tense over and over. An astounding, thoroughly entertaining read.

TrishB Love her books 👍🏻 5y

Another great read from the author 👍🏻 the only books where romance and serial killers actually mix! (Not with the serial killers.....though I know that‘s a thing!!)
Always so many twists and turns, good stuff.

The opening was just heartbreaking & learning everything that these kids went through was very upsetting! I loved Diesel for his protective instincts & vulnerability. Everything uncovered took him to a very dark place but he stayed the course. Dani was an amazing advocate & I liked that she was an HIV+ character who still lived her life to the fullest that she could. What took place between them was a slow building romance that was very swoony.

TrishB Not out until Thursday here! Have on preorder 😁 5y
