This is my first ever read with a male MC POV. I find having different points of view in a book to be very enlightening on what the two main characters are feeling individually. The most relatable part of this story for me is that Jack thinks that he cannot change his life without it ending horribly for him and others he cares about. Making life choices that affect not only yourself but others is something that everyone must face at some point.

It was ok. The concept was really interesting but it didn‘t quite develop, as I was hoping it would being instead a long build up to a quick resolution. Apparently there‘s a sequel, but to me the story has finished, I don‘t particularly crave another look into this world. But who knows I might pick it up later.

I realized I never did a review for this book. But I feel like it deserves one. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and learning about the characters and the world they inhabit. It moved along faster than I expected but not in a bad way. The ending was well crafted and fit the narrative. Worth the read!

Enjoyed this one overall but in the beginning I did think we were thrown into the world without given much info about the magic system. Kinda learned as you went. There was a lot of action and it did wrap up nicely in the end, though there is a second book in this duology, I don't know if it needs one. I think I liked the audio but not sure I would have liked reading it. Between a pick and a so-so.

This book was okay. The characters were enjoyable but I felt like not much happened throughout the story. I did enjoy the ending though. There were just a lot of slow parts and it kept jumping in time from one chapter to the next and I felt I was missing something when I was reading. 3 ⭐️‘s book 3/52 #52booksayearchallenge

Such an incredible concept! I was so excited to read this story, and I was not disappointed by all the action packed between these pages. I did start wondering near the end if it would spread across multiple books, but it tied up right at the last minute. I actually thought it was a stand-alone with that conclusion, but it turns out book two is coming this summer!

I dnfed this book because the writing was flat and boring. We are thrown into the story and not given much information about the magic system. Also, we are told that the two characters love each other, but we don‘t see any chemistry at all. I wish I would have loved this.

Managed to fight off a brutal cold for weeks only to finally take myself to urgent care, where I learned that thankfully it hadn‘t gone into my lungs, but I did need antibiotics, which are now wreaking their own kind of havoc on me. 🙄
