An op shop buy. This YA was authors first novel. Well written and interesting to be in a teenage world again. One without mobile phones too. Aussie days by the beach surfing and swimming.

I've just started this Audio book...I'm loving it so far, love that it's Australian, with an Australian reading it.
I still haven't reached any emotional parts yet... I'm not feeling happy today, so I don't think I'll listen to any today.
This is the story of how a family survives the loss of their son and brother. Set in a small Australian coastal town I loved the descriptions. A great read if a little long in the middle.
When I decided on my reading challenge for this year I was taking into account the fact that I had a two and a half year old and would have a newborn within the first week or so. I chose 24 books, that was two a month, I thought I might just be able to manage that. Today I finished Breathing Under Water, which is my 50th book for the year. If I'm honest most were audio, but I'm chuffed all the same.
This is a heartbreaking coming of age story that centres around Grace, who is grieving after the loss of her twin. On top of all watching her friends and family crumble around her, Grace turns to a life of partying to fill the void - all whilst in her final year of school.
This book was marketed to fans of John Green - and I'd add that fans of Melina Marchetta would also enjoy this book.
#MarchIntoOz #day20 #DeepWater Moving into the final third of this months photo challenge & today is all about Richard Clapton, an old school member of the Aussie rock scene. Breathing Underwater is a 2pk tissues novel about fraternal twins, Ben & Grace Walker. Growing up in a coastal town in Victoria, both are rising surf stars until tragedy happens & with both parents falling apart too, they‘re left to deal with their deep grief alone.😢
Feeling very emotionally drained after reading this one. It‘s got lovely writing but I also cried the whole way through.
Day 4 of #riotgrams - here is my #currentread
Breathing underwater is a beautifully written Aussie YA novel. I'm really enjoying it so far.
#BooksAcrossOceans #day18 #BookishWaves This is a beautiful Australian novel about Ben & Grace Walker, twins growing up in a coastal town in Victoria. Their father is a famous surfboard maker & both Ben & Grace surf competitively, but Ben is a rising star with sponsorships & about to join the pro tours when tragedy happens & Grace is left to cope with her grief alone. Her parents fall apart & her best friend, who was in love with Ben,is a mess too.5⭐️
Finished this beautiful book last night which is the latest read for the @dymocksjoondalup #yabookclub. Breathing Underwater is as beautifully written as its cover. I thoroughly enjoyed the hint of Tim Winton in Sophie Hardcastle's writing but loved the Australian female voice. Loved spending time in Grace and Ben's world, which is also our world. #sophiehardcastle #yabooks #aussieauthor
#MarchIntoReading #day31 #BestOfMarch This month has been a great reading month for me. I've read 26 books this month, the most all year. Most were books from a series, 7 from the Shetland series by Ann Cleeves, 6 from the Daisy Dalrymple set by Carola Dunn,5 from Logan McCrae series by Stuart McBride & 3 from the Maisie Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear. These 6 are my favourites, The Unquiet Dead was fantastic, can't wait to read more📖👀
"The words danced off the pages, and I often found myself doing a double take at how descriptive and clear her sentences were... This book is unlike any young adult novel with its fluent writing style and eye-opening themes, without overdoing either factor."
Amazing Australian book, It is beautiful, evocative, heartbreaking and has a wonderful sense of hope. So much love
