#BibliophileAdventCalendar #Day18

The #AdventPromptoftheDay is:

🎄 Are you into historical fiction or novels set in specific periods in the past, sometimes including actual events and recognizable people. What‘s your favorite book in this genre?

Answer in the comments ⬇️ or post and tag 💜

TheBookgeekFrau I love historical fiction! Two favorites that immediately come to mind are: Next Year in Havana and A Gentleman In Moscow 💞 2w
Texreader It‘s my favorite genre and I have way too many favorite books to even try. But a new to me author I love is Kate Quinn who I discovered this year through #authoramonth 2w

Twenty Poems | Anna Andreevena Akhmatova
post image

#NationalPoetryMonth #April #day18 #water #AprilPoetryChallenge
These poems were translated by Jane Kenyon with Vera Sandomirsky Dunham in 1985. They are included in her book, Collected Poems, which is how I was introduced to this Russian poet.

BooksandCoffee4Me Ah, someone else who knows and appreciates Akhmatova‘s poetry! Last year when I was teaching adult Ed English language learners, one of my students from Russia read one of Akhmatova‘s poems with me for the class, I reading in English and he reading stanzas then in Russian. 9mo

wanderinglynn Love! And thank you for introducing me to a new (to me) poet. 8mo

This was a cute romance that I read a couple of years ago.

Not quite a festive #wreath, but I‘ve loved Asterix since I was a child, so I‘m going with it!

After The Scream: The Late Paintings of Edvard Munch | Elizabeth Prelinger, Edvard Munch, High Museum of Art
post image

Pastel on canvas, from exhibit at the MOMA(2013)My son & his elementary school cases manager used to squeeze their cheeks & open their mouths wide in imitation of this painting. So we picked up the behavior at home & ran with it. 😂

#AutumnPlease #Day18 #Witch This is a recent release from the author of The Atlas Six. Two witch families fight to keep control of New York City, on one side the Antonova sisters & their mother Baba Yaga, on the other the Fedorov bros & their father Koschei the Deathless. #Scarathlon #SpookyGhostClub 6pts

Eggs Wow sounds compelling 🖤🌹🖤 2y
GondorGirl I really enjoyed this one. It was a Shakespeare-ian magical soap opera. 2y

#ScarathlonPhotoChallenge #Day18 #Zombie I‘m not a zombie fan at all, I think I‘ve read 2 zombie books in the past 15yrs? I‘ve never watched The Walking Dead either & while this was written well it still wasn‘t for me. #Scarathlon #SpookyGhostClub 6pts

Clwojick I really like zombie graphic novels, but not huge on the actual novels. 2y
