I picked up this book at the library because I had been reading Huda Fahmy‘s webcomic and wanted to see how she and her husband met. I was surprised to find that this is not a comic, but partially text narration and partially comics/illustrated. It works surprisingly well! This book is funny, charming, and touching. I really liked seeing how Fahmy‘s faith affects her life. And the love story is so sweet! It helps that they are both nerds like me!
I haven‘t even started reading this book and I already think it‘s super cute from the thick pink cover 😆
This was such a cute graphic memoir detailing the talented author‘s experience as a visible Muslim who had an arranged marriage. It explains a lot about what that actually means for her, though she is careful to state that this is HER experience and others may be different. #ISpyBingo: scarf
I read both That Can Be Arranged and Oddball last night. I learned some things about Islam and arranged marriages from the first, and I found the second to be sometimes quite relatable, even though I‘m not the target demographic and had to google some slang terms. Both books made me smile.
I really enjoyed this light-hearted comic about finding a soul mate. Honest, funny, expressive and informative, Huda Fahmy tells us what it was like trying to find love whilst staying true to the traditions of her faith. A sweet book to read ❤
Oh my gosh, that was the cutest. So funny and heartwarming, yet informative.
@zezeki posted about this book yesterday so I borrowed it from Hoopla and read it. It really is so cute and romantic. I also found it educational.
Super adorable with a fabulous message of self-worth.
Also, Jane Austen was low-key Muslim 😂
Since we have to be closed to foot traffic in the shop right now, we took the opportunity to do inventory. While scanning every book in the shop, I came across this and knew it was coming home with me. These drawings are so freakin‘ cute!

It was full of comic art, but not quite a comic. It‘s part comic, part nonfiction book about how pre-arranged marriages work, and part biography about Huda‘s specific experience. I enjoyed every page. I loved seeing a positive book about arranged marriage, and a positive experience with the comic interludes. Over all i think this was well done, funny, and heartwarming.

This graphic novel was a delightful read – informative, served up with a side of humor. If you have wondered what dating is like in the Muslim world this book is for you. The illustrations throughout the book are really cute.
