Another beautiful strange, unsettling novel by this #Norwegian author who has become a favorite of mine. With much human insight Vesaas describes the changing relationships between three adolescents - an unmarried mother who has drowned her newborn child and the girl and boy who befriend her. Their individual reactions to the tragedy and their efforts to communicate with each other form the central theme of the narrative.

AlaMich Me neither @Cathythoughts. And I‘m about 30% through The Count of Monte Cristo (unabridged version), which I‘m loving, but it does require a bit of concentration. I‘m considering pausing it and finding something that needs less brain power. 5y
