A new collection of forty-six works features deep explorations of such themes as the mysteries of life, love, and death, in a volume that investigates clues that can be found in the natural world and offers insight into the writer's use of unadorned language.

I admit I have more appreciation for those entries that convey moments of awareness and appreciation of nature rather than those which appear to be admonishments, lessons.
I feel like a spirituality which is an appreciation for nature doesn't need additional theological help or preaching, but it seems in this volume that Oliver is still grappling with something a bit more institutional/organized.
Whatever brings you comfort...

Ever since Mary Oliver died, I have been reading from her works that I have not read. These are the titles I have downloaded on Overdrive so that I can continue hearing her joyful song, celebrating the beauty of a blade of grass, or the thrilling taste of the wind. Each poem in the tagged book made me feel blessed to be breathing in the world. What a gift. For Lunar New Year‘s Eve, I will bask in the glory of her verse. #Poetry #WomenReadWomen2019

Lindy What a great idea! My sweetie has organized a commemorative poetry reading that will happen at our local bookstore next week. We used a Mary Oliver quote in my mom‘s obituary notice, and a different Oliver quote was used as the introduction to the photo album my sweetie put together for my 50th birthday. Her words live on. 6y
Emilymdxn I only read my first full length book of Mary Oliver after she passed away, thought I‘d loved individual poems before then. It was incredibly meaningful to read and I want to read everything she‘s written now. Such an important writer of such beautiful words 6y

I absolutely loved this collection of poems. I don't want to return my digital library copy because I want to copy down most of the poems first.
