Welp... that wasn‘t really my thing. 🤷‍♀️

The text & story did not flow smoothly for me. Maybe it‘s because I‘m not an avid reader of comics. Maybe it‘s just not very good. Either way, Season 8 didn‘t give me that cozy, comfortable feeling that a “homecoming” usually does. I‘m honestly just confused about what I even just read.

I‘ll keep going for at least one or two more issues — but only because it‘s Buffy, and the name means something to me.

One of my favorite things about Buffy is her consistently creative choice of weaponry. This panel‘s got some OG vibes.

Most of the banter has felt cheesy & forced. This is one of the only panels that provoked a genuine smile out of me.

It‘s finally happening. An apt title, as the Buffyverse totally feels like home. It‘s been a long time & this is long overdue.

I recently rewatched seasons 6 and 7 of Buffy (season 6 is mostly terrible, but I enjoyed season 7 a lot more than I did the first time through!) and decided it was time to try the comics again. I read this first volume years ago and liked it, but I wasn't used to keeping up with comics so I never read any further. I've been dipping into comics a lot more lately, so I think I'm ready to come back to this series.

Even if you have no interest in Season 8, I think all Buffy fans should read at least the last issue in this trade. Not only is it a great Buffy story (sort of), it's one of the best comics I've ever read.

I feel like I'm cheating on today's #OctPhotoChallenge. So many "strong female characters" are written in a way that strips them of both femininity and emotion. Eschewing things that are typically "girly," isn't what makes women strong. There are many types of strong women. That's why I love Buffy. She's both feminine and strong. She doesn't usually shut off her emotions, and when she does, there are consequences. She's also a badass.
