Girls with Razor Hearts, Volume 2
Girls with Razor Hearts, Volume 2 | Suzanne Young

It's time to fight back in this second novel in a thrilling, subversive near future series from New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Young about a girls-only private high school that is far more than it appears to be. Make me a girl with a razor heart... It's been weeks since Mena and the other girls of Innovations Academy escaped their elite boarding school. Although traumatized by the violence and experimentations that occurred there, Mena quickly discovers that the outside world can be just as unwelcoming and cruel. With no one else to turn to, the girls only have each other--and the revenge-fueled desire to shut down the corporation that imprisoned them. The girls enroll in Ridgeview Prep, a private school with suspect connections to Innovations, to identify the son of an investor and take down the corporation from the inside. But with pressure from Leandra, who revealed herself to be a double-agent, and Winston Weeks, an academy investor gone rogue, Mena wonders if she and her friends are simply trading one form of control for another. Not to mention the woman who is quite literally invading Mena's thoughts--a woman with extreme ideas that both frighten and intrigue Mena. And as the girls fight for freedom from their past--and freedom for the girls still at Innovations--they must also face new questions about their existence...and what it means to be girls with razor hearts.

Ahhh this book was just as good as the first book! I love how this book not only expressed the side of women but also men, and how two wrongs don't make a right. I just love everything about these books. I love the moral compass.

Personally, this one is too slow for me. The first one was a whirlwind, and this one moves at a pace of a 🐢. Due to the stressors of work with a new head librarian / changed environment, and starting the fall semester for grad school, I haven‘t had much time to read for pleasure, and this one doesn‘t help with having limited time to read 🥲 wanted to love and finish it, but couldn‘t !

Drum Roll🥁 Ladies and gents, after the most difficult semester yet of my grad experience, where the phrase “ blood sweat and tears” felt many times quite literal… I got a 4.0!!!!🎉🎉🎉 Happy tears were shed- I gave this fast summer semester my all! Next class on the agenda : Youth Programming, starts 8/23

I am soooo in love with this series! I read the first book in one night, and although this one didn‘t captivate as much (the plot twist in the first was just so good!), it really had a lot of instances that made me think about gender inequalities and prejudices in general. All this while encapsulated in a great story that made me pre-order the third book!

I really enjoyed this book just as much as I liked the first one. It was a little less exciting because the big twist was discovered in book one, but this still had some good shocking moments and excitement. I liked learning more about the girls and their stories. Definitely a good sequel!

Not sure if the author used the book to express her frustrations ab our current climate or if I'm projecting but the story is v/relevant, in the way that The Handmaid's Tale was unsettlingly familiar when Hulu released it. I never imagined an America ruled by misogyny & fear would be w/in the realm of possibility but this book shows how easy it would be, revolving around repro rights & men who want to control it. Equal parts warning & rally cry.

That was a hell of a sequel. The contrast between the two books is amazing. The sequel is all about fighting back. Not letting the boys of this private school get away with, well, everything. Finding that even the “nice guy” is not someone to trust. The ending twists are all over the place, but fit so well. I am also frightened for the girls; will some become violent to fight the violence of the men trying to control them? Also, I love LUV Sydney

Oh My Gosh this made me laugh so much. Just over half way, and while there‘s not much action, there‘s so much going on. So many twists and new revaluations. What‘s getting painful for the girls is that they are being told, basically from their “helper”, to rise up and attack the bad men. Just men, as if men are the only problem. That they are inferior to all humans. That the men would be better living under the woman‘s thumb instead

I ask; How did the book change us? Words have immeasurable power, Philomena. They affect what we believe, how we see the world. You were kept from knowledge at the school. You were lied to.

I love these added poems of power to the girls. The whole sense of this book is following the first; the girls belong to no one, that they control their own destiny of who they are.

Our reaction to their violence is what the girls and I are trying to weigh out now. You don‘t beat a monster by becoming one yourself.

Spending time outside before the storm comes. So excited for this sequel!! The first book was so well done in building up what was going on at the “prep school” and what was happening to the girls. I wonder how this second will take these girls now on the run; go back to tear down the school or stay away and live their lives?

Finally reading this. I haven‘t been in the mood for dystopian stuff because **waves hands around** but I have nothing else catching my attention.

BookDragonNotWorm I'm not a huge dystopian fan, but I really liked that one. Hope you enjoy it! 4y

Currently reading this eArc which is a sequel to Girls with Sharp Sticks. I'm liking it, but it's a good thing I married well, because most of the males in this series continue to be the worst. #TeamSlaughter #scarathalon @Clwojick #octoberreads
