With crackling suspense, unforgettable characters and searing insight, The Lost Apothecary is a subversive and intoxicating debut novel of secrets, vengeance and the remarkable ways women can save each other despite the barrier of time.Hidden in the depths of eighteenth-century London, a secret apothecary shop caters to an unusual kind of clientele. Women across the city whisper of a mysterious figure named Nella who sells well-disguised poisons to use against the oppressive men in their lives. But the apothecary's fate is jeopardized when her newest patron, a precocious twelve-year-old, makes a fatal mistake, sparking a string of consequences that echo through the centuries.Meanwhile in present-day London, aspiring historian Caroline Parcewell spends her tenth wedding anniversary alone, running from her own demons. When she stumbles upon a clue to the unsolved apothecary murders that haunted London two hundred years ago, her life collides with the apothecary's in a stunning twist of fate--and not everyone will survive.2021's Most Highly Anticipated New Books NewsweekMost Anticipated Books of 2021 Popsugar'A bold, edgy, accomplished debut!' Still on this one and still loving it!! A few details about London specific culture and of course the landscape. Always enjoy hearing/reading/seeing about different cultures and locations🖤💜

@Cupcake12 @KadaGul Thanks for the tag, friend!!

KadaGul @JessieKB It takes me 1-2 weeks to finish a book. It doesn't matter how long it takes, as long as you are enjoying it. 2mo

I‘m going to keep searching for a mom dedication this month but for now this will have to do for my #TBRtarot.

This was told in 2 timelines - an apothecary in 1790‘s and modern day London but in both there is a theme of women being abused and mistreated by men and what they do about it and how they are supported by other women. I enjoyed it and really loved the female characters. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

CBee Glad you liked it! Recently snatched this one up and hope to get to it soon 😊 1y

We‘ve been on a fishing vacation in Canada for the last 10 days- hence the lack of posting. Going home tomorrow- but got this at the little free library at the bait shop!

The Lost Apothecary
One Dark and Stormy Knight
The Outliers
Blackout
The Firekeeper‘s Daughter

See any favorites? I‘ve been rereading Rick Riordan and His Dark Materials.

This book would be wonderful for a women fresh out of a break-up trying to find themselves. Nice fluffy, entertaining quick read.

A fun beach read about an apothecary that deals in poisons meant for men who treat women badly.

I wanted to love this. History, women's history, and murder?? Those are basically my favorite things.

Except no. This was so bad. My view of the characters were inane, confusingly pitiful, and dumb. The plot was non-existent. The details about history were just plain bad (there wasn't an organized police force in 1791!).

The history major in me is weeping and rolling my eyes.

Cover is lovely, though, and the beetle is a nice touch.

I loved this!!! The cover is what made me pick this for my BOTM (I know, totally judged it by the cover lol) but the story was great, I did not want to put it down!

amber_ldsmom Starting this one now! 4y

I enjoyed this. The plot line had some bumps in the flow where I felt like something brought up was just dropped or everything happened at once but the characters all felt relatable. It drew me in and I wanted to learn more but the story itself wrapped up nicely, so that I felt satisfied at the end.
