I didn‘t enjoy this one as much as the first but I liked how things unfurled and came together by the end. There is a lot that carries from the first book so I think reading close together is better than far apart but maybe I just need a better memory.

Wish there was a choice between a pick & a so-so. Anyway, this sequel to Marion Lane and the Midnight Murder is just as fascinating. Love all the gadgetry, underground world, steampunk feeling, Cold War adding to the plot. So much fun, but I also think it could have moved more quickly in some parts. Hoping the author writes #3.

We have a mystery that Willberg manages to twist until the end. There's still chemistry between Marion Lane and her co-Inquirers. There's a mole in Mrs Brikett's underground chambers.

Unfortunately, it could not hold my attention and I forced myself to read it. Furthermore, I was annoyed by very avoidable mistakes right from the first page on.

First chapter and I'm not sure I want to continue reading the ARC. I so liked the first book in the series.

Just checked online, pubs were closed at that time. Pubs had to close at 10pm (11pm in London) - changes were made in the 1960s, but definitely no open pubs at 1am.

At the end of the chapter, after a short meeting:"Dawn was coming..." - in North England at 1.30-2.00am? In January?
