Such a good book- cried so much at the end. Definitely recommend to any romance novel lover!
As usual, Sparks brought tears to my eyes. As she is dying due to cancer, Maggie meets a young man who becomes a close friend. He persuades her to share her life story and in the process she shares an extremely romantic love story. He, too, has a gift for Maggie. The entire story is told with Christmas as a back drop…so still part of my Christmas binge.
Here I was , all settling in for a cosy festive read for December, and then this was…underwhelming. For what should have been a very emotional story there was just, well, no emotion. Guessed the ending early on. (Also, descriptions of pregnancy making someone “fat” were intensely irritating). I must have a cold heart as everyone seemed to love this. And I spent so much time balancing those baubles for the picture too 😆
I have quite the stack of unread thrifted NS books. They are kind of cheesy and predictable- I was pretty sure after the first flashback how this was going to end.
I liked well enough it but I think I was supposed to be more sympathetic to Maggie‘s 15 yo self as told by her 38 yo self.
“Love is always stronger than fear. Love saved me, and I know it will save you, too.”
I enjoyed this one better than the last 2 I read by him, The Return (which I didn‘t care for) and See Me (which was pretty good, kinda different). This one was sweet! I loved Maggie! I was rooting for her until the very end. I was kind of mad Maggie wasn‘t more angry with her parents throughout the book, I felt like she never truly stood up to them, called them
A beautifully written story about one teenage girl‘s seemingly normal coming of age journey. Told as a flashback, it holds the reader‘s Interest as it bounces between timeframes. But this extraordinary young woman‘s story is presented in the most tender and emotionally intimate way with unexpected but lovely turns. I don‘t like romance novels, but this is a more… soooo much more.
Nicholas Sparks is a consummate story teller. Grabbing our attention with his story weaving ways. Although the twist in this particular book was super obvious (unlike the majority of his other books, imo), it was a satisfying end to a very sad, and poignant love story.
11/10. Quite possibly the best book Nicholas Sparks has ever written. A story of love, family, personal growth, and life, The Wish has it all! If you're looking to be completely captivated by and transported into a book as if you're witnessing it unfold before your very eyes, this is the book for you!

What a gut punch!!! WOW! Sparks know how to pull on every emotional string. Maggie and Bryce had an incredibly joyous and heartbreaking journey. I total sob-fest in the last few chapters. Aww Maggie!

I have been punched in the heart with this book.
First up from the unnecessary pile of library books:
The Wish by Nicholas Sparks
This was one of two holds i was picking up. See my last post for what actually happened! 🙃
How I ❤️ Nicholas Sparks. This book was so good and had me feeling all the feeling and of course it left me ugly crying 😭 as always. Another 5⭐️ for him!
5/5⭐️. In typical Nicholas Sparks form there was Love, death and it all came together beautifully. I‘m still on the high from getting to meet him and get this autographed copy.
Initially, I was going to rate this so-so because for the first time ever Sparks has written a YA book whether he intended to or not. Also, I guessed the big twist WAY EARLY on which makes me sad. However, the last 10 pages were incredible and made up for everything else. Probably will remain my leaat fav Sparks though.
Y‘all this was a dream come true for me. My absolute favorite author is Nicholas Sparks and I got to meet him last night and get an autographed copy of the newest book. I am over the moon excited!!!
Such a nice day to sit out and read on my break
