pickFound this in a discount store and snagged it as I enjoyed Beautiful Ruins many years ago. For whatever reason I really enjoy short stories even as I tend to retain little memory of them in the time that follows after I‘ve finished the book. Some of these were delightful though - including the first story in the book and the title story. Definitely will read his other collection of short stories.

pickI really need to read more Jess Walter. This is my third, and his writing just flows. It is obscene how flawlessly these stories unfold. So many different people from a young American on a film set Rome to a dad with dementia in Boise to drunken professors in the snow in Mississippi. He can take apart what makes people tick and just build a beautiful story around it! 🤩

I listened to the Audible version of this story - I think it‘s included with subscription.
The blurb here says it seems to be part of a collection of his due out next year.
However you do so, get this into your brain. Beautiful, classic storytelling with the right amounts of drama, melancholy, & humor. Chef‘s kiss of a book 😚
